Sorry if this belongs in technical support sub forum. Anyway, I am not very smart with PC's. Though I want to I see no need to try to learn, as I have failed at pretty much every hobby I have tried. Anyway, I need a new video card. I just got 2 more GB's of RAM. ( I had less than 1)And now I need a better video card. I am tired of all my games running on low settings and still lagging like a little bitch chained to my bed with no legs. (Sorry)
Here is my current card- 128MB GeForce 6150 LE (Elitegroup)
I got that with Speccy :)
Anyway, my questions are:
Will any card fit?
What good replacement can I get around 100$ or less. This card is from around 2001, so anything past 2006 is good enough for me I guess.
And where can I become smart like you beautiful people? <3
Sounds to me like you're using onboard memory. I need to know what motherboard you have. Go into speccy and hit the motherboard button on the left. Just tell me the make and model number and then we can see what we're working with.
Yeah, you have no dedicated video card.
Good news, you can probably get a huge upgrade for next to nothing. You've got a PCI-E slot on there so you're really only limited by your budget and your power supply.
Awesome! Thanks.

Something like that would do nicely. What power supply do you have?

Good lord this. I have a 4850, great card.
Post full specs first, including the power supply.

Okay. Also, can someone show me where I can learn this stuff? I don't know how to check my power supply. I am using Speccy, so I hope this helps:

you can find out your powersupply wattage by either googling your pc model and checking specs, or by opening your case and looking at the side of the psu. But, when in doubt, just get a new psu. Thats what i did, just to be safe.
I'd recommend an ATI 5670 based card. Why?
Number one, it takes much less power than a 4850. It still has good power to match the performance of an older dual core system. And you can get one for under $100. Plus it has Eyefinity, someday you may want to use that.
If you're running at 1024x768 with a Windsor 3800 I don't think you're gonna get much extra use out of the 4850 and you will need a beefier PSU than you would with the 5670.
Just make sure you get the PCI-Express 2.0 version of what ever card you pick. Those have better backwards compatibility with PCI-e x16 motherboards. Also, make sure the card you pick has the right output(vga, dvi, hdmi) for your current monitor. This can be an issue if you go with Eyefinity and have a vga monitor. Then you'll need an adapter and so on.
Newer games are still gonna chug with that CPU (3800+). You might wanna save up for a better CPU whilst you're at it.

IMO the 5670 is a waste of money, and the 5670 needs a 375-400w PSU, where the 4850 needs what? 50w more? He's gonna get a 500w PSU anyway. And every GPU you buy nowadays is PCI-E 2.0 anyway...
i still got one of those CPUs
makes me wanna give you my 6000+ but i cant :(
@OP you may wanna upgrade to windows 7 if you want to play games with dx10 or dx11

Then he'd be better off running a 5570, using less power. One thing I personally wouldn't advise is spending money on a vidcard AND powersupply for that computer. That's too much expense for what won't be much more gained by simply buying a 5570.
Go with an Sapphire HD5770 1GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873&cm_re=Sapphire_HD5770-_-14-102-873-_-Product
