Season passes sure are all the rage nowadays, At least you can know a game you like is getting plenty of dlc. Would prefer it if the smaller stuff was free though.

The main reason a lot of dlc that should be free isn't is because Microsoft don't allow free dlc.
Dicks.

Microsoft allows 1 free DLC (or update) that they see fit.

Forza Motorsport tells me otherwise, around 12-14 free cars are downloadable without cost.
big DLC updates that require hefty space on a 360 have to be paid for

From what I have heard it uses EA's own servers for them which explains why they are free.
I might be wrong V:v:V

Special publisher/developer deals or such, probably. The whole 'DLC cannot be free' shtick normally applies from what I last heard, which is why the Team Fortress 2 for the 360 never got updated (or so Valve claimed).
Why not just stick finished DLC months in advance of the game into the fucking full game, how's that for a novel idea
Announcing DLC before the games release.
Waoh it's like they don't want money. I liked the look of this Assassin's Creed, but they're just shitting all over it.
Oh well, DLC is avoidable, as long as it doesn't add onto the main storyline. That'd just be shit to acquire by other means.

They're not making content of the actual game into DLC, they're planning several DLC packs to come out over a year or two following release.
