There is something deeply cathartic about these truck simulator games that honestly make it my all-time favorite. People laugh when they see me playing these games, but it's really deeply satisfying, like a simulation version of popping bubblewrap.
But does this game have proper VR support? This with the new Oculus Dash update would make it a dream

I made fun of my roommate for playing it. Then he bought for me for Christmas and my life was never the same. It became my relaxation after studying.

Yeah, same here - I was a skeptic because I had this work colleague of mine playing it on his laptop while he was waiting for a build to compile during some of our late-night work sessions. Then I got it for myself (admittedly, I pirated it first but then bought it later) - I really enjoyed doing mundane things that allowed my mind to switch off and just not have to think about anything for a while, just following the gray ribbon from one distant point to another, while going through a day night cycle and all kinds of weather.
I actually purchased City Car Driving to practise my driving and reflexes and can also highly recommend it, it's much of the same, except driving around in a vaguely-russian city in a shitty Lada that makes you actually appreciate driving. It's best with your own driving wheel and things, but using it has surprisingly made me a much better driver because it forces me to sharpen my spatial awareness because it's full of jerk drivers who don't signal, cut in front of you, drive in the opposite lane, etc.

I just wish they were a bit more realistic. Interstates don't have 2 fuckin lanes there's always 4 sometimes 5 lanes to navigate. I understand technical limitations of these games but it always somewhat bothered me that I can't suffer through real rush hour traffic.

That's what mods are for. In Euro Truck, ProMods makes payware additions that are accurate to real-world roads. But the files are huge.
I personally can't get into these Truck sims, I just want them to be extreme and hardcore. Like it simulates you having to take a piss, so you try to piss out the window but you get it on the seat and have to pay for an air freshener otherwise your morale starts dropping from the smell, but you can't afford the air freshener so you kill one of your employees for his wallet, but the cops show up to bust you but its at this point you remember why you had no money: cause you bought a gun in case the cops showed up.
Alternatively you could just stop at a gas station, but if you sit on the toilet you have a chance of getting an std, so you just piss on the side of the road which opens its entire own can of worms
Honestly sounds like what you want is my summer car. It's a little less extreme than what you want, but it's not by that much really.

Jesus Christ I'll make sure never to insult truck simulators in front of my friends

Uuuuhhhhh...have you never left the urban sprawl before? Interstates VERY quickly shed their lanes as soon as they leave the cities because it just isn't feasible to build multi-lane freeways through desolates stretches of empty nothingness. You don't really need more than 2 lanes until you've got exits within a mile or two of one another.

It's true, the I-17 is two lanes each direction for nearly its entire length, with the exceptions being the part that goes through Phoenix and one part that is too mountainous for semi trucks to do more than 30 mph
I just put on a classic rock station and then hit the gas and drive from place to place.

It was thanks to ATS that I found one in the first place. 181.fm Classic Hits. Kicks ass, and I'da never known it existed if not for ATS having it as one of the first stations listed for e-radio.
