• Computer Fan Making a Grinding Noise

Lately my computer's fan has been making a weird grinding noise, like there was something just brushing it and was slowing it down. I took apart the case and cleared out some of the dust and moved some wires around but to no avail. It goes away if I keep starting/shutting off my computer but after a couple hours of being off it will start up again.
Broken bearing?
I'll look into that, I checked the fan though. Seems to be in prestine condition.
Check for imperfections on the blades. They could be out of balance.
You should also locate which fan is the cause of the abnormal noise.
Check for rice.
Just buy a new fan...it's not worth fucking around with it as it's probably something internal on it
My new barebones kit ships in within the next few days anyways. Was just wondering what the hell was causing the sound.
Maybe there's a piece of hard dark chocolate in it. Lol, Not. anyway if you want a fan anywhere, it's either Newegg with that derned 7 dollar shipping or Fry's with a f-load of tax.
It grinds my gears when that happens [editline]07:05AM[/editline] On a more serious note, check so that there arent any loose cables that may be able to get into the fan.
