if you were attacked by zombies what guns would you use you can pick 1 sniper rifle 1 assault rifle and 1 pistol
A fairly common pistol (I'd have to research for australia, probably whatever our police carry) A light smg, preferably an MP5, but anything small and automatic would be nice. A shotgun since the ammo is fairly common, they all work the same so basically any shotgun I can find. An assault rifle would be too bulky to be useful in close quarters, and a sniper rifle would be awful to carry, find enough ammo for, and wouldn't be nearly as useful (zombies have no morale or concept of taking cover)
Spas 12, M9 and an axe I guess.
Sawn-off hunting shotgun, 30 shells or so and a nice katana. I'd rather a greatsword but Katana actually is light anx excels cutting even stiff, dead flesh so it'd be pretty much top notch.
i would choose m14 mcs for my sniper rifle barett m468 for my assault rifle and smith & wesson 500 for my pistol
Longbows and knives is where it's at.
Optimal armament would be a silenced low-recoil high-bullet/magazine capacity pistol. You would spend most of oyur time runnign away, fighting would be damn near useless, and stupidly dangerous, because you would face the risk of infection through the blood splattering on you. The pistol makes no noise, has good ammo conservation skils, easy to conceal and carry, not many aditional cargo (aditional magazines, not to speak of the fact that, unlike double-barreled shotguns, for an example, you don't have to carry each bullet individually, making it very hard to reload and carry.)
My bare hands.
If I was attacked by zombies I would pick any pistol and suicide.
Barrett .50 cal, Desert Eagle, and AUG. Maybe one of those Chronicles of Riddick knives as well

AMT Hardballer, FN F2000, and a Dragunov.

And as I'll show below, sniper rifles don't need to have uncommon ammo. All the weapons I've selected here rely on common military rounds that could be found at any army base or gun store. Sniper rifle: M14 EBR, chambered in 7.62x51 NATO, preferably with some sort of 5-10x optic. 24" barrel preferred. Assault rifle: AR-15 (semi-auto M16) chambered in 5.56x45 NATO. 16" barrel, Eotech red-dot-sight, laser sight for hip-firing in emergencies, maybe some nice reliable Magpul magazines, and a collapsing stock. Pistol: Either grab a S&W M&P for convenience, but something along the lines of a Beretta 92FS or even a Glock 17 would do. The best you can hope for from anything you grab from a store is about 30 dB off of the sound, which still makes it fucking loud. It would be useful though, since this usually brings the sound below 90 dB, so you could fire without ear protection. If you wanted it to be quieter, you'd have to use subsonic ammunition (so, .45 caliber), but that in turn somewhat reduces magazine capacity.
Anyone here ever try and clean an MP5? It's ridiculous the amount of parts in there. I would take an M-16A2 (Not as hard to clean) and a .22 pistol. And of course, a crowbar for both coolness and multi-functionality.
A simple .22 can do the job. Not to mention the one I've fired only has two removeble parts. The spring and the slide. Super easy to clean and put back together.

At best you'd kill one or two zombies before it got lodged, not to mention their short reach. If you use the blunt end of the crowbar you might as well take a pipe of some kind. The bigger heavier duty crowbars get jammed a bit less but again they're fairly ineffectual and really really heavy. You'd tire yourself out really quickly despite the extra power. That said, I'd probably keep a small crowbar on my person for utility use (removing boards/opening shit)
Why would you use a crowbar or axe when you could just use the amazing Chinese shovel? It's really not very common, and still very new. Effective though, but a 5.56mm round to the head will do just as well.
Also of importance is how zombification is spread. If it's airborne you're probably immune if you reach the stage where weapons matter, so melee weapons are potentially useful in a pinch. If it's transmitted by saliva/bodily fluids though you really want to keep your distance so a melee unit is of virtually no use because at that stage even if you kill it you're probably in deep shit.
sniper rifle: assault rifle: probably this Empty_Shadow got pissed so... A better gun without the crap add-ons. or it has a 40 ammo mag and I would add a silencer, flashlight and scope. Pistol: Screw M9! 20 ammo mag. Maybe put a scope on it too, and a silencer xD
[img_thumb]http://www.modelguns.co.uk/images/ak47ts10.jpg[/img_thumb]
WHAT lS THIS YOU DOING TO PERFECT RIFLE OF SOVIET DESIGNING. AK47 PERFECTLY GOOD WITHOUT ATTACHMENTS, ALL UNNECESSARY BAGGAGE, IF I SAW YOU USING THIS IN ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, WOULD PURPOSEFULLY INFECT SELF WITH ZOMBIE STRAIN AND FEAST ON YOUR FLESH MY SELF. WOULD BE WORTH IT TO GET RID OF ONE MORE MORON USING HORRIBLY CUSTOMISED VERSIONS OF PERFECT WEAPON ALREADY GIVEN TO THEM. EDIT: DO NOT EVEN BEGINNING TO GET ME STARTED ON HORRIBLE PAINT JOB DONE ON PERFECTLY GOOD M16. WEAPON PERFORMS FINE WITH NON-SHINY BLACK PAINT AND LOOKS BETTER TOO. EVEN THOUGH OF AMERICAN SCUM DESIGN, STILL DECENT RIFLE AND PAINT JOB IS INSULT TO GUNSMITHS EVERYWHERE.

ITT: idiots think they carry loads of weapons with them while running away from zombies
Personally, some things extreeemely reliable and common using common ammo like the Glock 21 and the Ruger .22 would be useful - anything else would be too heavy and ammo would be way too scarce to bother. The first being for the reasons of being throw-it-out-of-an-airplane-then-drag-it-behind-a-car type of reliable and the second being reasonably accurate and ammo being miniscule and easy to procure in large numbers. I used to own the second, good gun.
ITT: idiots think they carry loads of weapons with them while running away from zombies
My first priority wouldn't be firearms, especially in Australia. It'd be finding a nice motorbike or small car. Then, carrying two rifles, a sidearm, and sufficient ammo? No problem.
Just need a good supply of water, a working vehicle and somewhere to stay out in the desert. I'd like to see zombies make it far in the aussie outback. They'd get cooked alive (unalive?)

He wouldn't be able to move anywhere fast with all that weight on him, and a shotgun in his trousers... Also where's he keeping the ammo? Your point stands though. It is perfectly possible to carry a pistol, rifle, and heavy equipment (or another rifle). Soldiers do it all the time.
I'd want a large variety of weapons though, at least wherever my homebase is set up. After the apocalypse, ammo is going to be scarce, so you want to be able to use any you find.
I would probably choose, if we went the realistic way: For a light main weapon, i would choose the M1 Carbine (yes, the WWII gun. Perfect against zombies, because it offers range and semi-auto.) For a secondary firearm if i was suddenly grappled by a zombo, i would say any S&M revolver that just can blow brains out from point blank. As a melee weapon, an ordinary machete.
