um shack, how can it be on hold if they never plans in the first place
Shacknews dumbasses, they never planned on continuing it in any shape or form apart from free updates. They need a break then make something different for a change.
Back when Torchlight 1 was released, they said several times their plans were to turn the franchise into an MMO. Then Torchlight 2 happened and early into production they specifically noted that Torchlight 2 was separate from the planned Torchlight MMO. This article is about how they've sort of scrapped/postponed the MMO. Try reading before making misplaced accusations.
I hope they keep on doing what they are doing with the genre, but make it a whole new setting this time. Something interesting and fresh but with that same fucking amazingly polished dungeon crawler gameplay.
I think a Torchlight MMO wouldn't keep people paying monthly.
I'd really rather just see more action RPG's. Games that tend to take the MMO route tend to bomb pretty hard.

You realize that Runic has Perfect World Entertainment as their parent company right? I've played something close with Greed, but that game was meh.
What the fuck, Runic? I was expecting Torchlight 2 to be a prelude to the MMO. Now you've basically scrapped it. Crap.
They're a team of 34 people, it'd be pretty hard to make an MMO out of that.

As he said, he's made 4 of them in a row now and would like to do something else. 16:00
Then a first person shooter or a cart racing game because taking a beloved RPG series to the MMO genre has a mixed history. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] Actually a Torchlight FPS could be fucking sweet.
A Torchlight MMO seems pretty pointless now that TL2 is out.
