Most people here use a pseudonym, but how much do you actually care to stay anonymous, if at all?
Why do you think it's important/unimportant?
[editline]Edit:[/editline]
I wanted to add a poll to clarify this a bit more but was too slow.
My question is more in the direction of: How much do you care to keep your identity unknown to people on Facepunch?
Personally, I usually don't use my real name on the Internet but don't care enough to keep it completely hidden.
My reason is that I don't want everything to show up when my name is googled but try not to post anything problematic either.
I don't give a flying fuck for my IP address or social sites tracking me. I think a person is overly paranoid if he decides to go with VPN's and proxies for everything just to hide his IP.
My parents decided to make my first name a scottish last name- I'm british. I hate it. So I only stay anonymous so I don't have to share it.

There's nothing about me on the internet at all. If I need to sign up for a website I use a pseudonym because I'd like it to stay that way.
I just pay attention that my nicknames can't be linked to my real name.
Every other site gives you the opportunity to sign up with facebook now. Thanks but no thanks, I'd rather not let everyone know what I do, like, play and look at, especially since nine tenth of my contacts are people I barely know or don't know at all.
I care about the trace I leave. For instance my regular username is in no way traceable to my FB.
And I don't hide my IP, I trust my ISP enough.
The pseudonym is pretty much the only socially accepted form of self-labeling established on forums. Beyond that, when you perceive a self-established behavior as being accepted, the fact that it's scrutinized by a sea of people with an indeterminate social obligation to lie, it perpetuates an addiction to the opinion of the anonymous person in an attempt to control an emotional need of self worth.
The implied cynicism should be taken with a grain of salt.
My facebook is separate from the rest of my online accounts, but thats about it. I don't really care that much.
I don't do social networking with any IRL information at all, really. I use a two or three pseudonyms which I tend to keep somewhat context-separate, that's pretty much it.
I'm pretty sure I could be tracked down one way or another though, in the past I've been less careful with keeping my primary email accounts out of context.

It's not so much about paranoia as me finding the notion of being constantly reachable or observable annoying. I prefer to communicate with people solely on my own volition.
I use my real name and stuff but I generally try to keep my real life shit out of my online shit and vise versa.

I don't even use my real name on facebook. Only on paypal and shit.
The only link I really have, that I know of, is my e-mail address which uses my name.
I don't really mind that much
Why bother?
My name is incredibly uncommon anyway (especially with the combination of first and last) and a simple Google search could reveal stuff that I did a couple of years ago.
I suppose I am fairly anonymous, I almost NEVER use my last name on anything even though I use my surname alot to make names.
But I do have my email with my last name... Don't have facebook.

Over here your work spies on your social network.. just to see if you where really sick last night or out having a ball and that kinda jazz.
I have my name mixed up as well, keeping family off there is also handy.. rl friends only.
For all my accounts from the past two years, I use my actual name. Adam Roman's not that uncommon of a name though.
I've told a couple of people my real name, and occasionally tell real life stories. But I do use a couple of pseudonyms, fake accents, and differentiating locations to prevent myself from being hounded by telemarketers. Some names I use are Eduardo Vasquez, Sarah Meyers, Jeb Wilkins, and Han Van Lutwidge.

Isn't british what you are if you live on the island with england, scotland, and wales?
So you mean english I'm guessing?

How are your friends supposed to find you? D:

Except your username contains your country..
I really don't care.
People can know my name and nationality anytime or how old I am.
Not like I'm the world's most important person.
My username is a surname but it's one letter different, but I don't mind too much...
I don't go handing out my name left right and center. Doesn't matter much to me if someone finds my facebook, as I don't have any direct info public that could cause someone to find me. Don't mind people knowing my name, or where I live (Citywise).
i have no problem about revealing my name or how i look on the internet
