Ok, I'm ordering the rest of my components tomorrow and was just checking whether all these parts are compatible and worth the money.

I'm purchasing the case and ram on friday at my local computer store as it is cheaper but i'm planning on get these.
Ram: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Memory-PCAndLaptop/DDR3-PC3-12800/1600MHz/Corsair/CMX4GX3M2A1600C9.html
Case: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Cases/Cases/Antec/0761345-08300-3.html
And by the way I have already bought a 5770.
Is it all ok?
First link doesn't work, it says my shopping cart is empty

Fixed.
Good but you should probably get a ModXStream PSU because it's modular.
Also we have almost the exact same build, except you have a different case and the 1TB version of the Spinpoint.

What does it do different if it is modular?
It means you connect which cables you want instead of having them attached so you can't take them out.
It's a cable management thing.
It's not necessary, but it's something nice to have.
I can't afford one so will the one in the OP be fine?
Yes, just make sure you keep the extra cables out of the way so you don't block airflow.
Is the motherboard fine, that's the bit I'm a bit unsure about.
Ordered it with next day delivery so it shall be here tomorrow, then I'm building it Friday when I get the ram and the case.
Are you 100% sure the ram will work fine? I have had difficulties with ram in the past.

The XMS3 RAM works fine, I have the CAS7 model myself. As with any RAM, when you boot up for the first time, just make sure you only have one stick in(Check to make sure its in the right slot if your motherboard happens to be picky about which slots get used first), go into the bios, and set the timings and clock speed to the recommended values. Then put the other stick into its slot, and you should be fine.

Ok, Just wondering what settings do I need to set everything to?

It'd be fine if you just plug and play. Though if you really need the little bit of really unnoticeable difference, set the timings and speed to what it says on the box or on the site.

Ok, so if it is 1600MHz ram that means I set the frequency as 800MHz?
Ok, so if it is 1600MHz ram that means I set the frequency as 800MHz?
No, it should show in your bios as 1600.
Ok, Thanks I thought as it is Double Rate it would be 800MHz.
No, your BIOS would say 800MHz, hence double data rate.
Don't take Undomian's advice. He seems to not know what he is talking about.
I seem to know plenty, my P7P55D-E Pro displays it as labeled. Not every bios is the same.

Your BIOS recognizes the RAM name, therefore displaying
"Company Name here" "Type of RAM"
[editline]08:48PM[/editline]
And I'm sure mostly all new motherboards display it.

Right. Yours is just more user friendly.

wrong, the fuck?
[editline]05:31PM[/editline]
I really hope you're using DDR2 800 MHz RAM, that's pretty stupid.
[editline]05:32PM[/editline]
and I've never heard of 800 MHz DDR3 so I'm almost certain that's what you're using, and why would BIOS say 667 for 1333 MHz DDR3?

Could you clear up the reason that speccy only displays half of the RAM speed. As an explanation people just say double data rate hurr hurr, is there a technical reason? Or is it just a fault with speccy?

DDR2 800, for example, doesn't actually run at 800 MHz, but at 400 MHz, and since it's DDR, it just writes information twice every cycle, so you get 800 MHz, which is sort of misleading but not really
[editline]06:10PM[/editline]
basically that means it can perform 800 million I/O operations per second, but it's not reported that way for whatever reason
400 MHz is the external clock rate which is what speccy sees
I feel like everyone just lost their knowledge about RAM.
Oh my god do I have to take a picture of my RAM?
what?

i'm sure you knew that

nice try by the way
