I dont really care for the pink hair at all but Zaryas ultimate with the blackhole gravity shit looks fucking amazing. I like how powerful some of these ultimate are.
Fuck it, Zarya is awesome as shit
Nice, they added Big Boss
Nice, they added Big Boss
No. Someone better.
Zarya is literally just a man with tits. Why did they make her a girl when she has such masculine features.
No. Someone better.
I'm okay with that
I have never heard of this game until now. It looks pretty friggin' cool.
Zarya is literally just a man with tits. Why did they make her a girl when she has such masculine features.
"Women with muscles don't exist!"
Zarya is literally just a man with tits. [editline]7th March 2015[/editline] Or should we just not make characters as diverse in appearance as real people are?
McCree looks badass

Women body builders at least have feminine traits that aren't pink hair and I have no idea what you're talking about because I am surrounded by beautiful women daily.
Are you aware most real-life women don't actually look like super models like the other female characters do?
Heh not in U.S. they don't.
I'm pretty sure he's wondering why they slapped a pair of tits on a character that really looks male outside of the feminine face and pink hair. You can make muscular females and not make them look like buff dudes with tits, I think the character design is really, really uninspired and boring
Most of Overwatch's characters have a pretty uninspired design. As for the muscles, she just has the top-heavy Hollywood image of strength like any other strong-built character. It just looks jarring because you're used to female characters having the supermodel figure regardless of their class. Even if you think it looks like a man with tits, what's the problem with androgynous characters?
Even if you think it looks like a man with tits, what's the problem with androgynous characters?
Bait is planted
Strong women with muscle look masculine. Deal with it.
Bait is planted
You sure showed me!
Why is John Marston in Overwatch
Oddly enough, someone did a palette swap of her model and she looks 100x better [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qFBEceX.jpg[/img_thumb]
Reminds me of Kara Thrace from BSG now.
I'm more than able to speak for myself without you putting words in my mouth, thank you. This isn't about a class, this is about how people usually portray females in media. Look at the other female classes in the game, they're fucking ridiculous. It really looks like they just slapped tits on a muscle man and went " Hey look, we can do females that aren't supermodels too! " I'm more than happy to see people stop ridiculously over-sexualizing things, but unless they make all of the characters look like actual people instead of super models I think the effort is wasted
I fail to see your argument. So because they have sexy women, they are suddenly not allowed to have burly, muscular ones?
Eh, two incredible uninspired characters. I guess their designs are going to be hit and miss like that, but I was expecting that already, since this new franchise where they don't know where they stand. The only thing that botters me about Zarya, apart from the pink hair, is how from the waist down she just wear a very bulky armor and from the waist up she just wear boobplate and her arms are not armored at all. I think they could've gone either with the armored cargo pants, like the cowboy who wears a jeans with a kneepad (since there is no point putting more armor on your legs than on your vital organs and she would look more mobile), or full bulky armor.
Wow that does look a lot better.. why the hell did they go with pink hair?
if we speak up they could end up changing it, just saying. it's a minor change so I don't see why not

If you mean that swapping one cookie cutter physique for another is lazy then I can agree, but I don't think it's any worse than not bucking the trend at all. Even if Zarya is "the exception that proves the rule" now, new body types like hers won't become widespread unless someone starts a new trend.

Her body type works because of the role she plays in the game, just like Tracer body type works for her role. Devs should just make the characters they want without having to be concerned if they are portraying all ethnicities, body types and so forth in their games.
I don't really see the issue with her character design, it's not subtle in any way because of Overwatch's stylization, but as far as creating character diversity goes (which is important for gameplay even if you don't care about character diversity for creating more interesting narratives), it gets the job done just fine imo.
if we speak up they could end up changing it, just saying. it's a minor change so I don't see why not
Well, pink and dark teal are used both on the character and her spells, so it's probably important to keep the colors characteristic so that during matches players unfamiliar with a hero can at least tell which player is responsible for what part of the crazy light show. They could change those specific colors of course, but I think them sticking out and drawing attention isn't seen as a design weakness. Others find it genuinely interesting. For others yet it's become irrelevant white noise. To each their own, but devs that want to create interesting characters should see bodytypes and ethnicities as opportunities for creating a more varied and distinguishable cast imo.

Currently most of Overwatch's female characters have the generic sexy body just because, regardless of their role.
Well, exactly. But just as well, there are 3 members of the male cast that have the same body type. And everyone else is all over the place, so I don't see any problem with it. It should be made because they tought the idea of a character was interesting. Which I believe was the case of this one.
Well, exactly. Arguably Pharrah, but it's hard to tell with the armor.
