• How can I hook my stereo up to my Laptop?

Hello all, I'm now in my college dorm with my laptop and stereo system and I was wondering, Is there a way to connect them together so that I can play audio on my speaker system? I want to play videos and movies on my laptop and I want to play them LOUD (Jurassic Park!), problem is my laptop is very quiet and if I turn it up too loud the speakers start to hit their maximum volume and could potentially blow out, Now I have a Teac CD-X10i stereo system with two additional speakers so it would be perfect for my use, only problem is that I don't know how or if i can connect them. The speaker system has an ipod dock and I was hoping that someone had an idea for that because the other end of the jack is some kind of wierd plug. But if you have another way I'm all ears. Also another helpful and extremely important fact is that it recharges the ipod while docked so ther is power going into the dock, also if it's important (for digital and analog output stuff) I have a HP Pavillion dv7-2185dx notebook. Any help would be fantastic! Really looking foreward to movie night with the rest of the floor! Also not the solution below exactly, I want the base too, It's got a sweet, sweet base... Also i remember when there was a question thread tag.

Does your laptop have a digital optical audio out port? (And does the Teac CD-X10i support digital optical input?)
No to both unfortunatly, can't I get my computer to gove off the same signal as an ipod and just block the leads with incoming power?
Bump, hello could someone atleast tell me if I can't instead of just letting it sink?
After some googling, i see your stereo seems to have an input jack and not a cinch. So you don't need a 3,5mm-cinch cable but just a regular 3,5mm phone jack cable like this: The manual of your stereo says there came one with it though.
