• A Headphone Adapter To Control The Headphone's Volume SEPARATELY?

I've gone through several pairs of headphones, which all had an annoying noise constantly in the background while plugged into my laptop. Things work completely fine with Ipods etc., but not with my laptop (These were really good, expensive pairs as well). I really gave up and just bought a headset, with the microphone and everything, for a somewhat cheap price. These also had the same problem, but, they had a volume control that controlled the volume of the headset separately. I turned that volume down, and the laptop volume up, and boom!, it was fixed. I researched it a bit and I found out that my laptop normally gave out such an insanely high volume that when it's turned down to a comfortable volume, a certain "noise:sound" ratio goes out of whack, thus I would constantly hear that annoying background noise, or something along the lines of that. That headset I was using died, but I had a receipt, so I got a refund. But unfortunately, I had to buy the same pair again. Now they're dead again, and this time it happened even quicker. Now, instead of getting another pair that would die again, I grabbed those good headphones that I couldn't use for my laptop and used those for a bit. I got used to the noise, but now those are dead as well. With that, I went to the local Future Shop to hopefully get a new pair that was: 1. Good, and 2. Had a volume control. Unfortunately, a good pair with one of those things don't really exist that often. I told the guy there about my little situation (He was specializing in that department) and he couldn't help me. But, he said that there should be something that could do that. I have searched the internet, and all that I could come up with was a Headphone Amplifier, but that doesn't sound like what I need. Now I would like your help, tell me either what I could get, where I could go for further help, or if there's some sort of program that could fix this, I really don't care what I have to do. Also, thanks for being patient through this long post.
So you're looking for a headset that has a volume control on the cord?

Yes, thank you. I looked it up and an inline volume control is what I need. Maybe I can scour some stores a little more now that I know exactly what need. Better than wasting several hours looking for the wrong thing.
