Well, at my school, we have a no-homework policy, so we don't have home work unless you don't finish work, which is rare.
So, if I did have to have excuses though, I'd just say like, I didn't do it. :D
What would your excuse be though?

Actually, I am in middle school. But, our school wont do that for Elementary, Middle, or High School.

Our schools are like, 50 miles from Oklahoma City, in the middle of no-where. :D
There's like, 250-300 kids in each school. Like 400 in high school though. 300 in middle school, 250 or so in elementary.
When your grades are high enough (right before mid-terms, too) that one little homework assignment won't affect you.
"I didn't do it" was my primary explanation for a long time even if I did because if you do that teachers will sometimes allow you to do homework in class and actually get credit for it

I once had a report due and I told my teacher I got a virus and had to format my hardrive. She let me get excused.
Homework is an abomination. If a teacher can't teach me all I need to know while in class, then they need to get a new job. The only thing that should matter in a final grade is test scores. Homework is so useless.

People all learn differently. Some people in my classes need the homework. They need hands-on practice and repetition to learn the concepts. I never do it though and I get it anyway so it's clear it's not the teacher's fault.
