The good thing about playing games on PC is that you aren't forced to use Games for Windows Live or other DRM services. You have the most freedom on your system and that's why I, and many others choose PCs over consoles. And even if a game forces DRM on you (which to be honest happens a lot), it's usually bypassable through one way or another.
I have played around 2 hours of Grand Theft Auto IV today, had no problems signing into GFWL, because I disabled it. My control over the system allows me to. No company that can hold me back.
