I'm thinking I could upgrade to 8GB DDR3 RAM/Motherboard, and up my graphics card and PSU.
I've really disliked this motherboard, it has trouble with the 6 core Phenom II, so I'd like to upgrade that.
The $1000 is a limit, I'd like to spend less, but not bear minimum. I'm ok with Nvidia or ATI for a graphics card.

Only get 8GB ram if you need it.

What would be a good AMD Motherboard? And also, would that card fit my current case? I also don't need a processor or HDD as I stated earlier, or a case.
You should get a HAF 912 anyways. It's pretty big for a mid tower and is superior to the 300. Also, lol..forgot you didn't need an HDD. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011
I really want an AMD motherboard though, are they all fine? My processor is great, I want to stick with it.
A 2500k is superior to the X6 1090t but if you don't want to upgrade it, that's your choice. For motherboards, there's a bunch of good AM3+ boards now, just look through the 990FX ones and choose what works for you. You can also get a full tower case if you wanted
I ended up with this
Would this run? / Be good for the price?
You should get a different case, antec 300 is really puny and you'll have little room to work with. And you should get a GTX 570 since it usually outperforms the 6970 and is quite a bit cheaper
Well, I want the 6970 to use for Bitcoin mining, it should rake in about 7 bucks a day, which adds up.
I added the case, I do barely have enough room in mine now.
You might also want to spend a little more on a modular PSU, up to you though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256058&cm_re=850w_modular_power_supply-_-17-256-058-_-Product
Modular is just being able to remove unused connectors, correct?
Yes.
Do I need the 850W PSU?
The 6970 needs 550W, which I have. Isn't 850 overkill?

The 550W only accounts for the GPU under load.
You could get a beast computer (which is rated 9.8 on the WEI) for about $1000 somewhere.
Bought it, thanks a ton guys!
