Hi guys. My PC performance has noticeably dropped in games and I cant find out why. I've defragged, done a RAM check, malware/virus scanned etc. For a reference, I could easily run CS:GO max without any hitches, but now I have to play it on low and still suffer some severe FPS drops. Warcraft also sits at 11FPS no matter what graphics setting I put it on. Some games like BF4 I can't even try and play anymore because it runs like a slideshow. Just wondering if anyone has any idea's on what might be causing it? Thanks!

Hmm, the temperature on the CPU and GPU seems a bit steep if it's idle? Try to clean out dust, also check temperatures with HWmonitor whilst playing after a while.

Sorry forgot to add. I've given everything a clean. I honestly think its a hardware fault somewhere. Users like JordGuitar will know that my PC is cursed. I got it years ago and i've always had issues with it nobody can fix whether its BSOD's, refusing to start and so on. It's stopped crashing now but instead it wont run games to a playable level. It's frustrating.
60c is still pretty high for idle temps

I suppose it depends if it goes up when you're doing something. Maybe something is using a lot of CPU in the background?

But then we can debate if that is supposed to be called "idling".

True, I always think idle refers to just being sat on the desktop. (when used in conversation)
What's your PSU?
I'll find out momentarily. Heading out.
Certain it's an overheating issue. Does performance drop due to heat? I've always had temps like that in the past and it's been fine. However after playing the Sims 3 for like 4 hours the PC shuts down and there's a continuous beep code when trying to turn it back on. Graphics card seems to be having a problem cooling down because now after half an hour of idling it's sat at around 65 - 75 C.
Wow what, I jump back onto Catalyst control centre to look at tempts, and it's at 80 - 90 C. Then it drops again when I'm looking at it? Enabling manual fan control doesn't even seem to work, I set it to 100% and nothing happens. Can't see if the fan is running on the card because it's at a shit angle.
Now noticed that opening Chrome and browsing the net seems to put it at 80-90 C. Desktop is 70 C.
Im having similar problems, I did a separate post about it http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1415393
BTW its a 750W power unit. The PC hasn't shut off due to heat lately and I've been on games all day that it would usually shut down after an hour or so. Also weird that now my temps are lower, GPU sitting at 60 and staying there when idle.
I did try to raise my minimum CPU power to 100% in high preformance mode but that seems to have made it a little worse? (Perhaps it's me thinking it has). Perhaps its a problem with the power, so when the PC needs more power to run games it's struggling due to a problem in the PSU? I have no idea but it's a guess.
[B]Update:

I reformatted, performance seems to be back to normal now. No FPS hitches or drops, however now after 10 minutes into a game my moniter will turn off and then the PC will freeze (I can hear the sound making that BRRRRR noise). What the hell.
Clean your GPU out. sounds like there's a huge pile of dust on it. Replace the thermal grease if you have to
It's been cleaned out, not put thermal shit on it though so i'll try that if if nothing improves. The screen is turning off and pc freezing at desktop now after some time.
You probably need to add new thermal paste on your CPU/GPU, and to the GPU only if Warranty is voided and you know what you're doing. Otherwise I think your thermal sensors are broken. And the heat can drop your computer performance. A basic way to avoid overheating is lowering voltages and clocks, that's what computer does if it has that option checked at BIOS. I sometimes get those brrrr sounds when I'm installing something but they go away. I experienced these brrrr freezes with Athlon x2 CPU, the CPU and motherboard had some kind of acid between them that blocked some of the electricity from going to the chip.
I read that some people have this problem too with BF4, basically they disabled Realtek audio, You can try updating Realtek audio. Try running windows memory diagnosis, Scan for malware/anti-virus/update all drivers.
I'll get my brother to help with that stuff, I'll probably make it worse. But yeah, FPS isn't an issue anymore what so ever. The problem now is just the monitor turning off and the pc freezing.
