Hi, Im holding a LAN party with 5 guys next friday and im picking out games. We have: -Planetside 2, -Left 4 dead -Age of empires 2 -Unreal tournament -Tribes ascend -Borderlands We are thinking about Defiance and Firefall, because they are free to play. But im wondering if you can just jump in with a bunch of guys and have fun like planetside 2, and not like WoW. If you have any other recommendations please let me know. Thanks.
Magicka, only problem is you won't be able to get everyone in since it's 4 people max. Otherwise Halo is pretty fun, or Half-Life Deathmatch/Sven Co-Op.
If you want a Diablo kind of game, you can try Path of Exile. You can group up with up to 6 people.
Try Air Buccaneers. Seriously. [editline]28th August 2014[/editline] Not sure if there's still a free version around though. I believe it's Steam exclusive now. I think I last played it as an Unreal Tournament 3 mod.
Warcraft 3 is always good, can't go wrong there. Quake is also good.
-any classic strategy games -Minecraft (i don't really recommend, unless you're bored) -any early 00's FPS games
UT2004 is really enjoyable. Did a LAN party with some friends a few months back and it was one of the more fun games we played for sure.

D3 would be more fun for non hardcore gamers I think. Ive played both.
Try Air Buccaneers. Seriously. E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy is halariously fun, especially the PVP. Also you can have like 32 player coop if you choose. Also most weapons and unlocked from the get-go, so you can jump right in. Hawken is a great game for lan party's, the PVP is fairly well balanced, but the PVE defense mode is only 4 players. Star Conflict is basically War Thunder in space, with some really neat ships and gamemodes. Loadout is a solid PvP tdm game, but prepare for raging. The Specialists - Half-Life mod. Needs no introduction. Just imagine you are in the matrix and go wild. Lost Planet 2 can be extremely entertaining with friends, but only supports 4 players. Serious Sam 3 can support as many coop players as you please, and multiplies the amount of enemies accordingly. You can't go wrong with it. Mechwarrior Living Legends - Requires a bit of fiddling to get working now that Gamespy is down but is well worth it. You get to fight with tanks, hovercraft, aircraft, mechs and infantry. System Shock 2 Coop - Leaning animations. Zandronum - Doom 1/2 Coop with any custom .wads you wish, just as long as they are supported.
