Remember the M11x thread I made not too long ago? looks like it's a getting an upgrade... a BIG upgrade...
We've been hearing about an impending CPU update to Alienware's M11x for some time now, and now Dell Malaysia has quietly updated its website with options to order the revised not-quite-netbook. So what's new? Well, there's NVIDIA Optimus for starters, and the Intel Core 2 Duo processor has been thanked for its time and shown the door in lieu of Core i3, i5, and i7 CPUs on a QS57 chipset. Prices start at RM 3,699, or about $1,110 in US bills. Speaking of which, while Dell's US site has yet to update, we've seen what's purported to be some internal documentation that pinpoints the official stateside launch for the revised M11x as tomorrow (technically, it's already Tuesday in Malaysia). No confirmation yet, but hey, it'd make for a pretty nice pre-E3 gift.
title is too long, how do I fix it?
can a Mod changethe title to "Alienware M11x gets Core i3 / i5 / i7 and NVIDIA Optimus" for me?
update: it's now avalible in the US.
Update: UK Alienware lovers can now also get their Core i5/i7 M11x fix, as the new hardware options have gone live on the laptop's local microsite. Yes, Optimus is there too. [Thanks, Mike]
Update 2: And now it's live in the US with prices starting at $949 with a Core i5 520UM. Less if you're thinking Core 2 Duo, which you're not. [Thanks, MastrCake]

Question is: Who cares about Alienware?
From what I see...everyone hates them.
they actually made a gaming "netbook" with pretty good specs for the price.
Prices are not too bad.
If I had the money I MIGHT buy an Alienware laptop.
The need for one is none though.
If I end up going to Uni then I will sell my current gaming 16" laptop and then buy one, but the only reason holding me back is that they dont look very proffesional.
Also glossy screen? that makes the m11 useless outside unless you have your coat covering you and your laptop stopping any light from reflecting off the screen.

We hate the prices, kiddo.

and the shitty EL EE DEEZ that gets all the little kids moist
Seeing as it has no numpad, playing gmod would be hard.

starting at $950 for an i5? not bad IMO.
I think they look cool and are good but overpriced, im good with my HP
price is another one thing, but what I care about is the weight. (m15 and m17)
They are heavy as fuck. 5.3 Kg's !!!!
The netbook and it's specs seems alright to me but $1k plus for a netbook? Not worth it.
You know all that space to the left and right of the touch pad could be used for a numpad. But that would be logical.
These m11x aren't even too bad for their price. Sure they're overly flashing and a little ridiculous but its not that bad for how much you're paying.
Wait so they're charging 1k for a netbook. Nevertheless a good netbook, but still, a netbook. Just go buy an ASUS 15/16 incher for that.

Wow.
Specs of a 15" laptop in a 11" one. That doesn't mean it's a netbook, just around the size of one.
This netbook is better than my pc. And costs 1k too. I bought my pc for 1k too, only like 4 years ago, heh
It looks like a netbook due to its size and relatively small looks and light to carry about. No DVD ROM though but you could still use an external HDD to put in games and stuff like that.
And IMO,maybe this is the fastest netbook in the world, the only one that can play Crysis at decent FPS!!!

why would anyone play games on a itty bitty screen?

Traveling?
Dammit, I just got a Mx11.....
God-fucking-damnit I hate all those lights and logos.
Damn they even install steam for you and let you pick the system color (you can change it) for you. 1,200 for i7, 4gb ram, 250 HDD. Not bad at all.
