Often enough for it to be fucking annoying. Its mostly huntsmans though and even though they aren't poisonous they're weird as fuck look, and they have the tendency to drop down onto you from the roof. I don't see snakes much since i'm in the city but my grandma gets snakes in her backyard a lot.
FUCKING THANK YOU A FRIEND IS ARGUING WITH ME TELLING ME THAT IT NEVER HAPPENS (esp in the city) AND I AM TRYING TO TELL HER NO WHERE IS SAFE
Never because every single window has mesh over it and we've used enough silicon paste to waterproof a small barge. Still have shitloads of cobwebs on the outside of windows because they like to watch me as I sleep
I've been to Australia once that I remember and there was a grass snake in the house and ants ate an entire frog over the course of an afternoon
Fucking Queensland man. Spiders, Snakes, Cane Toads, Queensland has them all.
Queensland is Australia's Florida
STILL NEED MORE AUSSIES TO WEIGH IN, FRIEND NOT CONVINCED
I'm in Queensland. Couldn't list all the encounters I've had. Been trapped in my cabin a fair few times by carpet snakes... Snakes in shoes, swarms of flying golden ants invading my home, rats seeking shelter from the summer storms, kangaroos everywhere, echidnas crawling about, mad possums chasing me, packs of foxes running around the forest around our house trying to kill any chooks or small animals they can. It's just part of life here, and I don't mind it one bit.
I expected this thread to be "HELP I GOT BIT BY A BUG IS IT GONNA KILL ME?"
Daily for most insects. Redbacks tend to stay in the garage/shed/shoes. Lots of daddy long legs. Occasional huntsman.
HAHA GUYS ISN'T AUSTRALIA FULL OF THINGS THAT WANT TO KILL YOU LOL YOU MUST NEARLY DIE EVERY TIME YOU WALK OUT THE HOUSE AM I RIGHT?
Nearly never. There is the occasional spiders web in the bathroom and a few in the shed. But most of the time you only really see them in the bush. The most dangerous animal in Australia is the V8 driving Bogan. I live in Western Australia where it's too hot for life to exist.
I see Brown Snakes about once a year or two down here in Adelaide. Every time I've been to Brisbane though I've found a snake. Last time I went to the botanical gardens there and I saw two large Carpet Pythons in the space of 10 minutes.
Oh right, my mum's partner got bitten by a swamp snake recently. It was pure brown though so we thought it was a brown snake, somehow the news crew got wind of it even before I did and by the time I got home, mum's partner was being driven off in the ambulance and I got interviewed for the evening news. Such is life.
