So I recently installed Kubuntu, I think it's OK, but that's not the point. Every time I shutdown or turn on my computer, I have to re-enter all of my Chat accounts. I kind of ignored it, thinking "I'll ask about it later, no big deal." but now, I can't even log into my MSN account. It says "Network Error" instantly, so I don't actually think it's because of slow internet or anything. I can also connect to Facebook, so it's not Empathy.

Get a real IM client

Download pidgin and see if that connects. It could just be a bug in purple. They've been having certificate problems as of late.
it works in pidgin...anyways, I guess i'll make due until this is fixed.
Edit: Ok Mods, plz close thread
You may also want to killing off the config files for empathy and try setting it up again. It's possible the certificates it uses or other settings were corrupted some how.

Pidgin works pretty well.
Also check out Kopete, it integrates into KDE better than Empathy and Pidgin.
