Issue: explorer.exe will crash with the conflicting module being GDI32.DLL. It will crash, then DrWatson will crash, then DrWatson will try it save DrWatson, and create a new Process. Then it will hang up Explorer.exe closing and restarting (Will have to terminate the processes through TaskManager) Recreating: Happens anytime im using Chrome, or playing a fullscreen game. Additional Notes: - Chrome webpages will often "distort" as if the sandbox becomes corrupted. Leaves me to refresh the page often. - 1 BSOD a day, usually a pagefile related bug check code (BCC), or the generic 0x50 BCC. Troubleshooting Tasks Already Performed: - Virus Scan, Avast5 - Malware Scan, Malware Antibytes - Overclocks reset to Stock values. (seem to get more issues...) Specifications that matter: Operating System: Windows XP SP2 (5.2.2600) RAM: 1536MB PF: 3GB (Default formula followed) CPU Frequencies : "Stock" 2.06GHz "Overclock" 2.3GHz RAM set by FSB, not SPD. GPU: ATI RV530LE w/ 10.2 drives (Legacy)
Did this problem show up after a recent update you attempted? Did this problem just start coming up or has it been happening for a while now but just got progressively worse?
Well this started occurring roughly a week ago. Has gotten worse in the past couple days. I didn't install any updates, however after installing the latest Java installer, I am unable to bump my FSB any higher than what the CPUs stock FSB is at. Windows will just give out saying it couldn't find the config file.
could you upload your minidump files? You could also try cleaning up your registry with registry mechanic or something else.
could you upload your minidump files? I also suspect a driver got corrupted since in most cases the ATIDriver seems to be causing faults resulting in a BSOD.
Try reinstalling the driver
Did you check for bad RAM? Run memtest.
The RAM thing seems like a probable issue. However, it sadly isn't that. These issues seem to go away as soon as java is killed from the process pool. :\.
Do all of the above. Also run a disk check Start - > Chkdsk - > Run as admin. report errors if any.
Do all of the above. Also run a disk check Start - > Chkdsk - > Run as admin. report errors if any.
Wasn't chkdsk Wasn't fragmentation. Note, I did say Windows XP. Chkdsk can be ran through cmd.
Stop using chrome and use mozilla firefox instead. Uninstall chrome completely delete all traces of it. Since you havnt provided us with minidumps this is really all I can suggest as it seems chrome.exe is causing an issue. EDIT: It could be corrupted windows files as well in that case try running a windows repair.
Nevermind, fixed. the dllcache folder in System32 was compressed. thread can be closed. [editline]01:49PM[/editline]
Stop using chrome and use mozilla firefox instead. Plus, Opera and FF would just CTD after 2 minutes of use prior to me fixing the problem.
