My PC:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE OC'd @3.7GHz using a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ cooler
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770
4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
500GB WD Caviar Black HDD
And yes, I have the latest drivers.
Anyway, lately when I've been playing games like TF2 or L4D2 everything seems just fine for a short while when suddenly at completely random times (I haven't noticed a pattern yet at least) the screen just turns into a show of orange-black-ish vertical lines and the sound begins looping the last 3 seconds that I heard in-game. Before this I used to have two 5770's in crossfire but I had to sell the second one, and back when I had them in crossfire I VERY rarely got freezing problems, but this is happening EVERY time I play L4D2 and almost as often for TF2. Anyone know what the problem is and/or how to possibly fix it? Help would be appreciated.

When you play, does it make a checkerboard pattern on the screen or anything like that?

Nope, it's just the same orange-to-black-ish vertical gradient lines every time that causes the whole computer to freeze, forcing me to manually restart it.
run in windowed, and have something to check the temps while playing
