• Post nasal drip. Does anyone have it?

Hey guys, im new here, and I come to consult to the relatively big facepunch community (although im not expecting a decent medicinal answer). Post nasal drip is when mucus is sliding down from your nose to your throat, making it impossible to breath at times and forcing people to constantly spit mucus out, which might be a painful experience. Please, I know its disgusting, however I really need advice. That person have been going to 3 doctors, which said that there is no cure.
There's a medicine called Mucinex that helps break up mucus and helps you cough it out. Look into it. It's made specifically for that purpose. Also, drinking warm drinks may help break up the mucus, as will gargling warm salt water. There's no cure, since it's.. not exactly a sickness, but there are ways to help relieve the drainage.
get routine suctioning. [editline]09:32PM[/editline] see if you can get these: -beclomethasone (Beconase) -flunisolide (Nasarel) -budesonide (Rhinocort) -fluticasone propionate (Flonase) -mometasone furoate (Nasonex) -fluticasone furoate (Veramyst)
Yeah i had this a while back. It seems like it lasts forever, I do recommend drinking tea, esp. citrus flavored tea. Steam will break up mucous.
broken auto-merge. [editline]09:35PM[/editline]
Yeah i had this a while back. It seems like it lasts forever, I do recommend drinking tea, esp. citrus flavored tea. Steam will break up mucous.
it does last forever, from what I understand.
Yup, I get it along with my seasonal allergies.
does anyone seriously suffer as badly as that person? "they" cant think anything besides always spitting mucus out. Cant have a normal social life and anything
There may be something wrong with him then. He needs to visit an eyes, nose, and throat specialist to check out his respiratory system.
apparently there is a surgery that CAN correct this but it rarely ever works... I wouldn't recommend it. you best solution is allergy medication or those medicines/treatments I posted earlier.
does anyone seriously suffer as badly as that person? "they" cant think anything besides always spitting mucus out. Cant have a normal social life and anything
I have it somewhat like this. I spend about two hours of the morning walking back to the toilet or sink from my room to spit a glob of mucus up. This is in the spring and summer. In the winter, I am a fucking mucus machinegun.
it's triggered by allergies.
that person got checked by an australian ear nose throat professor, one of the best in the world. He said that its a *SEVERE* case of post nasal drip, assuming the person has it for about 5 months now. Has been taking a shitload of medication, however none help. Prescribed a capsicum nasal spray, which hurts like a sonova bitch, and actually damages the nasal passages. Im really frustrated for the person, because she really changed.
um... idk what to do then.
well, im glad you visited my friend. Have a good day.
hope your friend manages to find some help.
Wait... you joined Facepunch, just to ask about this? :psyduck:
i dont know why but whenever i get this i breathe hard through my nose and swallow it :/
