This is definitely a nice addition, a mode where you can just have fun and try crazy things. And for new players make it less scary to start playing.
How was this not something already? Like I don't know anything about Dot, never played it, but I'd have thought something like that, akin to quickplay, would be in the game already for a more casual experience.

AFAIK it was a gamemode in the original WC3 version.

Because at first it was believed that a mode like this would discourage people from learning and playing the standard version of the game.
Now that they've refined standard mode a lot, it looks like they're comfortable adding it back into the game with all the other fun alternative gamemodes.
In original dota, this mode is called "easy mode."

ez mode was around for a long time since WC3 dota but it wasn't officially supported after the transition, until now.
20-30 minutes matches feel like how Dota 2 is supposed to be like and not 40-70 minutes.
I haven't tried it yet but I loved easy mode in dota allstars
Is this akin to the easy mode in Heroes of Newerth? Before Dota2 I went through a phase of playing that exclusively just because it was more fun to jump in and play mindlessly.
A lot of people were very elitist about it but EM is definitely a very good way to learn the basics of the game. That being said I don't even think HoN's EM allowed you to buy items from anywhere on the map.
May actually play now. Can I move my character by clicking and holding the mouse button? (Like Diablo 3) or is it still one click each movement. Because my mouse is getting up there in age and I really don't like the idea of doing things one mouse click can do using 50
Honestly every multiplayer game should have ways for the matches to not go on for ludicrous amounts of time. Whether it's introducing having different modes or allowing the game to be drop in/out, the game should have ways for people to experience the game in the amount of time wished. I loved and loathed playing DotA. I loved the vast cast of characters, how there could be a number of battle scenarios, having to adapt to the way the match is going, etc. I loathed one main thing, having to play matches for upwards of an hour or more. I donated all my items I had gotten through trade and through events to a charity raffle since I felt the game was just way too unhealthy for regular play. I may jump back in to try this turbo mode since 15 to 25 seems far more reasonable and healthy.

Yeah you can enable that in the settings
