[del]Hello Facepunch. I'm hoping to get an okay with my parents soon for my first gaming build. :D I will need: -All computer parts -No OS is needed -We're going to go to Best Buy to get a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and speakers, so not needed unless there is a good deal on Newegg. I will use it for: -Source games -Some GTA IV, Crysis, etc. -Sony Vegas and After Effects, but not enouch to warrant a x6 or a 2600k -Possibly Hackintosh Total budget is maximum $600 with everything. I have put together an 2500k build, surprisingly: CD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289 Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146740 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171053 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.683496 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133344 Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130582R Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133181 -$75 Mail-In Rebates = $577.24 What do you think Facepunch?[/del] Parts I ended up ordering: From Micro Center: CPU: Intel 2500k $179.99 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 $74.99 - $15 Mail-In Rebate = $59.99!!! Can't wait to build! :D But first thing's first.... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/0Me7C.jpg[/thumb] I really need to clean my desk. Whilst cleaning, I found this: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/CO4Vn.jpg[/thumb] Couldn't find the original disc, and can't remember why I copied it. The disk is probably still in this monster: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/NQGLb.jpg[/thumb] Anyways, this is my desk, clean, before anything came, with some spare parts I will be using on it: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/9oefc.jpg[/thumb] First, we picked up the 2500k and the Gigabyte motherboard from Micro Center. There would be a picture here if I knew how to get it off my camera. Long story. Then, from the tracking info from Newegg, I thought that either my case or my monitor would come along with my big box of everything else. But that wasn't the case. Whatever. Here's my monitors and my HAF 912 setup like I want to when I'm done: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/grdZf.jpg[/thumb] For whatever reason, my big package of parts is sitting in New Jersey in the UPS place there and has been there since Monday, July 25th 2011 1:45PM. So I decided I would build as much as I can, and this is as far as I got: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/5Zyh4.jpg[/thumb] My progress so far. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/tfkHt.jpg[/thumb] Invisible hard drive!!! [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/HBXwg.jpg[/thumb] My epic lighting! [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/zd9pl.jpg[/thumb] Stuff under my desk. More coming when the rest of my junk comes. :)
Get the Intel build, since you can get a better graphics card later.
Get the Intel build, since you can get a better graphics card later.
That's what I was thinking to. When I put research parts, I usually look for motherboards with 2 PCIE slots. And the motherboard I picked out for the Intel build seems to have a lot of good features for the price.
Get the GD-53 or GD-55 if you can afford though.
Get the Intel build, since you can get a better graphics card later.
Except the part where he's getting a ricer case and a bad PSU
Except the part where he's getting a ricer case and a bad PSU
I knew someone would say that. I changed the case, PSU, mobo, and GPU in the OP.
I knew someone would say that. I changed the case, PSU, mobo, and GPU in the OP.
Raidmax is even worse, lol
Raidmax is even worse, lol
Then what is a good PSU that will support the 2500k and the 465 in budget? Oh, I was looking for a modular one. But it doesn't matter. And I was also looking for one that could support 2x 470s but I couldn't find one.
XFX 650w.
His hopes are way too high for $600
His hopes are way too high for $600
I'm just trying to get the most for my money. A GTX 465 which has the potential of being unlocked to a 470 for $99 and a P67 for $60 is a pretty nice deal. I was trying to find a PSU that would support 2 gtx 465s in SLI, but that isn't going to happen. Anyways, I know this PSU is good and it's what i'm getting: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016 [editline]10th July 2011[/editline] No, I have a better idea. Updated OP.

Is a GTX 465 a good deal for $100 or should a look at something else?

Updated the OP. Stuck using old eMachines that crashes when the media card reader tries to read my camera's SDHC. But i've taken pictures, and they're coming soon. :) [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Added all of my pictures. :)
