Hello, Everytime I try to host a game during CSS or GMOD (Or any game) locally, no one is able to join. When a friend comes over, and he or I host a server for any game, none of us are able to join each other. In some games the server doesn't even show up. I have made no changes to my router recently, and I have a D Link DSL-2750u Router. Thanks in advance!
You start out by checking the IP address of the computer where you want to host your game from, in this case your own PC. Start by opening a command prompt, and type in ipconfig. This shows all the addresses assigned to your computer, and you'll need your IPv4 address. This is something stupid with our ISP provided router.)

If my friend is connected to another network, it's fine (with Hamachi) but if we're connected to the same network we can't play on a local server, nor a multiplayer server depending on who launched the game first! for eg, if i launched CSS first and joined an online server, I would connect fine. However he wouldn't be able to connect to the same server. (but he can connect to a different server)
Anyone?
Port forwarding is only to allow outside computers into your network and direct said outside traffic to a specific internal IP and port. Example would be hosting your own Minecraft server on your PC, and wanting people from around the world to join. If its just you and your friend on the same network, and you want to play on a bots only server you would start the match, and he would connect by using the console command "connect (your internal IP):27015" If you both just want to play online together, you would do so by creating a lobby in-game and inviting him through steam. Let me know if I totally misunderstood your issues. [editline]12th April 2015[/editline] Also, if the issue is with every game, it may be a firewall issue like Wormy said. Is this a new issue that has just recently shown up?

I was hoping that port forwarding would fix the issue but it did not. my friend and I rarely host games, and if we do, we use hamachi. however even hamachi hasn't worked when we try to join each others games. Neither do public servers (as described from my last post) Inviting through steam does not work either. Basically, the issue is if we're connected to the same network, we won't be able to join each others games. We can't play online either, if one of us is already connected to a server. (so basically what i said earlier)
Anyone?
