What do you like better, Rap or Rock? Personally I think rock is better and it takes a lot more skill. What do you think? I just rated myself box, need more
rock and metal all the fucking way
Unless it's really good, i don't even think of rap as a type of music.
Haha, so far Rock-11 and Rap-0
Shame by system of a down, worlds colliding.

It's hard to decide they are both good
Rock is cool, I don't like metal though.

In all honesty, a small majority of people actually listen to rap to think it's good the rest are usually people who are in groups like preps, jocks, and all that shit.
OP: You think Rock takes work? Compare it to my favorite genre of music
-snip- You people must learn to separate opinion from fact.
Rock.
Rock may not take as much work as classical music, but it's a lot more than Rap. So Rock.
Really now? Are you sure your not thinking about hip hop?
Really now? Are you sure your not thinking about hip hop?
Nope, I'm thinking about rap.
Rock may not take as much work as classical music, but it's a lot more than Rap.
The most ignorant thing I've read all day.
I like rap more but, nigga you knew the results of this poll before you posted it.
The most ignorant thing I've read all day.
No, it's called opinion. Seriously, I've heard both and the reason I don't like rap is because it doesn't sound like any effort was put into it. Sure, there are most certainly others, but I've not heard them. Note that I'm not stating it as a fact, but as my opinion.

If rap took no effort every fucking poor kid would be doing it right now. Why does jay-z have a bunch of jewelry and bitches in his video? Because his SKILL got him the money to do that shit. Some rappers suck but, they aren't talentless. They have the skill to put words together in a rhyme that make sense and people enjoy listening to.
No, it's called opinion.
You can't state something as a fact and then try to get away with it by calling it an opinion.. geez..

I didn't say that rappers per definition blurt out shite and calls it music, there are most certainly those who put a lot of effort into their work. What I did say is that to me it doesn't sound like it. Your use of agressiveness and the word "Motherfucker" only proves that you're blindly defending your musical taste. I don't care if people talks even worse shite about Engmans kapell. So please; Use reason instead of insults.
You can't state something as a fact and then try to get away with it by calling it an opinion.. geez..
I didn't state it as a fact, I never did. I wrote down my opinion, why should I respect your opinion if you don't respect mine?
Rock may not take as much work as classical music, but it's a lot more than Rap. So Rock. Note: This is my OPINION, I'm not stating it as a fact.
Hey.. this can only be an opinion if you personally have alot of experience in writing/composing music of said genres. Listening doesn't count. I have an opinion though. To me, rock songs are extremely easy to write. Same goes for most metal. Classical music, now that's alot harder, but it's still do-able. Hiphop though, that would be very hard and challenging for me. Mainly because I'm not that much into the genre. Does that mean that it's easier to write Rock songs than Hiphop songs? No. Nor is the opposite an absolute truth either. But you stated that. And I take it you don't write alot of hiphop music? That's why I'm getting upset. You state it as a fact.
*sigh* Ok, I'm leaving this discussion now. A) You don't really seem to see the entire post. B) It's just annoying to try to use a reasonable debate against people blindly defending their taste.
B) It's just annoying to try to use a reasonable debate against people blindly defending their taste.
Tell me about it..
Rock all the way. \m/
Heavy music in general. EDIT: But as below used said, I also like like REAL, a.k.a. gangster rap.
Rock wins, no surprise. Rap is best left for the hardcore gangsters, not the faggot-ass cock-suckers you see on MTV or hear on the radio. Real rap comes from people who grew up on the streets, and actually rap with a passion for telling their story, not rapping about money, like that butt-fucking ass-clown known as "50 Cent". Tupac was a real rapper. Dr.Dre was a real rapper. These faggots you see on TV like Chris Brown and T.I. are not what I would call "rappers", but more like "posers". You see, the difference between rappers and posers is a little thing called "talent". Anyone who has a PC, a mic, and a copy of Auto-Tune can make an instant radio hit just by looping a beat and talking over it. (So many artist to name, I can't possibly list them all here). I love gangster rap, as well as rock. I just hate that horrible shit on the radio that they call "rap", which is nothing of the sort.
Fucking Facepunch. Every time we get the same people who instantly discount Rap as a viable music genre as it has simple beats to it and whatnot. Most (good) rap tells a far more true, honest and poetic story than a lot of rock which consists of generic love/heartbreak (and the occasional bout of absolute anger at society or whatever) stories. And those saying Rap takes no skill really need to go fucking try it. It's a lot of effort to write something that's meaningful, enjoyable to listen to and poignant at the same time.
