• How do people manage to use copyrighted material on YouTube?

So recently, I sliced up portions of two songs and their respective music videos into sort of a mash up. I added some effects and stuff but right when I uploaded the video to YouTube it was flagged automatically by content ID (audio and visual) and automatically blocked worldwide. But yet I see many other channels (small and large) that do this exact type of stuff and their videos go unpunished. Even those who upload entire songs! What am I doing wrong? Or are the others just lucky not to get snagged by the system? Where is that ambiguous line of "fair use"? Should I dispute?
I think part of it comes down to some content being recognized but not on the block-list. I've got a video that tells me the third party content is recognized, but that no action is being taken by the rights-holder.

In fact, my sources for the material I used came from other uploaders, yet their videos are fine.

If you are, that might be why.

I have zero intention of monetizing my videos. I never have ticked that box. Also I've like never uploaded anything on this YouTube account.

Yeah I was thinking that by monetising your channel, it would flip a switch that would automatically block copyrighted content, unless you decided to turn off the Adsense service. I honestly don't know, if you haven't uploaded anything else before, maybe that could be a reason too. As if YouTube has a thing where it checks the first upload of every user so that if a user is banned, they can't simply create a new channel and upload everything back onto that so easily. But that's just wild speculation.
Certain songs will get your video content ID'd to be monetized, so your money will go to the rights holder. Other songs will just get it blocked. Use this link: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/ad_supported_music You can search for the song and see which countries it will get blocked in, if any.

I really have no problem with other companies monetizing my video for their benefit. It's fair. Also, I looked up Paradise on that list, and it only said they would monetize the video, not block it. Is it because of the MV as well?
what exactly is going on between 4:09 and 4:42?
what exactly is going on between 4:09 and 4:42?
A cut of the music video (of Paradise) is being played.
So it seems like they are okay with you us in their music but don't want people reuploading the music video
So it seems like they are okay with you us in their music but don't want people reuploading the music video
Yea it seems that way. Although I don't see why they can't apply the same logic for music video clips as well. Maybe it's harder to Content ID video.

I was wondering about this for a long, motherfucking long ass time. I just always forgot ask about this :v:
You wanna stick away from major song producers (i.e. that coldplay) and get something either semi-dated or even public available if possible.
