Basically if I play a game for a while or run 3ds max for a while or something, my screen freezes and/or goes black, but I can still hear audio and do stuff (i.e. Windows/the program I'm running hasn't crashed, just my GPU). When I hit the reset button the computer reboots totally normally except there's no signal coming from the GPU. If I shut the computer off and wait 30 seconds or so and start it up, then the GPU goes back to working again normally. Now is this the GPU's fault (faulty/defective/driver problem) or my power supply? My specs:
ASUS something or another
Core i7 960 3.2 ghz
nVidia GTX 295 1892MB
8GB DDR3 RAM
650 watt power supply (dunno the brand)
Check the temperatues with HWmonitor.
Check, if the fans are spinning?
Download MSI Afterburner and you can control your GPU fan speed from there.
GPU fan spins at full speed in the minutes/hours up to crapping out.
Check whether it's plugged in properly and that there's not an ungodly amount of dust in there
