Ok, this is between those processors only! Don't worry about RAM or anything else. I have done research on the 2 and I like the 955 because I can OC it too 965 quality and it is $50 less than the i5. I can't decide between the two. The 50 less isn't a big deal, but it means I could maybe get a new HDD since my 250gb is nearing 6 years and don't know how long it will last! People say 1156 mobos are not good since they are a dead end for upgrades whereas the AM3 is more future proof. I want the one with good performance AND futureproofing. So far I am leaning towards the 955, but if anyone can list a reason why I should get the i5, do tell. My specs: E7200 Core 2 Duo 2.53ghz 3gb off 800mhz RAM 650 watt PSU PNY GTX 260 Core 216 250gb WD 7200 RPM SATA
Well the i5 is faster overall. But since it's a difference of $50, I'd go with the AMD only because the difference isn't something you would notice to be significant.
Go with this combo deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.345253 I own that mobo/cpu and they're amazing.
how many more threads of the same thing now? 3 maybe? all within a week of each other

Go with the 955. It's a better value if you're willing to do some light overclocking.

Ok, 955 it is, btw, I am getting that bundle but with a mATX board. Thanks to the people who told me to use search and were overall useless. I searched and it showed nothing for me. I searched: 955, 955 or i5 and nothing. Also, to the guy that said the thing about threads about this per week, if he is talking about me directly, I made one similar to this over a week ago, but that was more iffy since I didn't have any money. Otherwise I haven't seen any other threads like this.

A review for that motherboard (and the attached response from ASUS) implies that the CPU/mobo won't work together without a BIOS revision...which you can't do unless you own another kind of processor. Is that true?
