• Plug and Play devices such as external hard drives and flash drives don't work

When I plug them in they search for the driver, then fail. Then they're useless. They don't show up anywhere or do anything. I can't figure out why this happens and it's pretty annoying not to be able to use any removable disks. Anyone got any ideas? Is driver download enabled? On the start menu, type "change device installation settings"
Look for the drivers extnerally on the net
Is driver download enabled? On the start menu, type "change device installation settings"
Yes it is.
Look for the drivers extnerally on the net
No
Re install your motherboards chipset drivers
I don't think there's anything else to install. When I ran the "install all drivers" from my motherboard's cd it loves to install a bunch of bloatware so I just said screw that. I'll look around on there though.
Just do the drivers... - run windows update
Do they work on other PCs?
Do they work on other PCs?
Yep.
Just do the drivers... - run windows update
what
what
Type "windows update"
Type "windows update"
I always keep windows up to date. Installing INF driver fixed a different error in device manager, but my flash drive still won't work.
Just to clarify, do other USB devices work in the same slots?
Just to clarify, do other USB devices work in the same slots?
My phone does, I charge from there and use adb, as well as mounting the internal/external sd cards of the phone. It's just that removable devices like those do not want to work. Everything else seems to, though.
You can always use windows default usb drivers
