I'm thinking to change my OS from Win XP 32 bit to Win 7 64 bit so I want to replace my old 75GB HDD with a 500GB one since my data will be erased anyway. Then I thought I might as well upgrade other parts too, so I want to replace my 9600GT and so far I'm thinking to get the ATI Radeon 5750 since it's not too expensive. My current specs are:
- Nvidia 9600GT
- Intel Q9400 Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz
- 2GB Kingston HyperX RAM (I'm also thinking to add another 2 GB of RAM with the same brand)
- Win XP 32 Bit
- 500 watt Black Diamond power supply
- EP45-UD3L Gigabyte motherboard
My maximum budget for the graphics card is around $180~ more or less.
Also, I usually play on 1280x960 resolution.
If 5870 is too expensive there is always the 5850.

Does that one has a major performance difference than the 5750/5770?

Yeah I got this 500 watt Nvidia power supply, I forgot the name though. Also, bigger resolution in games doesn't really effect the visuals much right?

So when and if he decides to get a bigger screen, should he have to buy a new GPU to get an atleast decent framerate, aswell? If I were the OP, I'd get the 5830. Especially since it's quite cheap right now.

nvidia make GPUs not power supplys
and bigger resolution makes a big difference, it's the difference between an image the size of your monitor and taking an image half the size and stretching it to the size of your monitor

no because the 5770 will do fine even at 1920x1080
at his res he'll be maxing games for a good while yet

Oh nevermind, it's made by Black Diamond, it's just Nvidia certified or something.
