Well, I have a fancy headset, and I'm pleased with everything about it except the volume. I never seem to get it lound enough. The master volume of the PC is max, the volume on Spotify, video games, VLC player and YouTube videos is set to max and the slider on the headset itself is on max. I can plug the headset into my speakers instead of directly into the computer for additional loudness, but that means a total loss of audio quality, even at the lowest volumes.
Google hasn't been any helpful, so it's time to ask Facepunch what to do - what should I do?
And I'm not buying a new headset. Help appreciated. :buddy:
Sounds like you need an amplifier.
There are decent portable ones such as the Fiio E5. But there are also expensive ones which use power from the mains.
Edit: Clarification: I sometimes use the Fiio E5 with my Sennheisers, it doesn't add any noise at all unless it's plugged into the USB at the same time, which is a bit of a pain in the ass... but it runs well on the internal battery for 4-5 hours.
Cool, thanks - but before I go buy one - is there a free alternative? I assume not, but it's always worth asking.
I think the quality is shitty from the speaker jack because you're clipping it.
1. Turn all levels down in computer.
2. Plug the headset into the speakers.
3. Max out the volume via speakers.
4. Gradually turn up the levels in the computer.
