Hey, PC Building. Just wondering, is this low profile GT 220 a good choice for my Acer Aspire X1200? My integrated chip is dying; it's a GeForce 8200 which reads at a GeForce 9200 with latest drivers. I need something to keep developing and working. I can't really go any higher than $50, and this seems to be a great bang for buck deal here, but I hardly work with hardware, so I wouldn't know exactly. I'm just a software dude. If it's not a good deal, can anyone suggest something better? The Acer Aspire X1200 is a low profile form factor PC, so it's necessary I get something small and that runs on low wattage. Thanks in advance, guys!
Mine always was recognized as a 9200 and I don't think it was dying. I'd say use it all you can, save up for a new case, power supply and a decent video card.
GT430:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121397&cm_re=gt_430-_-14-121-397-_-Product It's $70 but well worth the extra performance you get.
do you need power or do you just need anything that works if you're just looking for something cheap maybe go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150498 although I'm not sure if a passive heatsink will cause problems in that case also for anyone else who posts, the way the mobo and case are laid out means a dual slot card won't work
That 220 is actually $59 when you factor in shipping(not counting tax). From what I see, the 'good' 220s are the DDR3 versions. This Asus is $62, only $3 more than that ECS. The fan sticks out a tiny bit, don't know if that's too much for you. The only thing is, once you get to the $60 range you might as well get something better. I have a 5450 which I use for general use, plus Source games/Fallout New Vegas at 1280x1024. It works good, they go for well under $50, just make sure you get a DDR3 version.
My Aspire X1300 came with a 220W PSU. Think these cards would run on that?
