I'm going to be ordering all of my parts here soon and I need some help on finding the right cables for a couple of my OEM's and want to know if what I have currently is decent.
MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157161
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148149
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136320
Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236056
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103681
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182030
Would anybody help me find a good DVD burner/CD burner? I'm also thinking about getting another GB of RAM in there. I really need to know what kind of cables I need, I'm gonna try and find a non OEM PSU though.
My budget is a little less than $500.
I already have a case and the CPU comes with a pretty good heatsink(says reviews).
your monitor link is wrong
also i've heard quality issues with Seagate HDD's lately, i suggest a Western Digital
also, get a better PSU. that company sucks.

Link fixed. I'll try and find a better PSU.
The 7200.11s (at least some of them) had firmware issues.
[editline]09:34PM[/editline]
You'll be fine with a 7200.12.
Ugh, Topower.
You might be following their slogan, "Dare To Be Different", quite literally when it blows half your computer.
Also, the dual 80mm fans will be loud.
A good brand around or over 500w or so should do just fine. This means corsair, antec, any other high quality PSU.

I found a hopefully better PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182030
Here's my advice from experience in computer building:
HDD - Either go with a 1TB HDD or a 10,000RPM HDD. The TB is less expensive than the 10k RPM, but you will thank me in the future for choosing one of them.
MOBO - Good choice, but you need to stay with DDR2. You can shave 50$ off your rig if you stay with DDR2 instead of DDR3. DDR3 is ONLY necessary if your going with a core i7 rig.
RAM - Always go for DDR2. Also, 4GB of RAM will help you more than anything
CPU - Go ahead and upgrade to quad core. You have a Phenom X2, but you should be getting a Phenom X4. You will also thank me in the future for that.
PSU - Go with a brand-name PSU. I've never heard of that brand, and I don't trust it. PSUs can go bad too easy, so go with something like a Corsair.
CASE - DUDE! You need a case! Where do you think all these parts are going?
HEATSINK - DUDE!! You need a heatsink! Do you think your CPU is going to cool itself?
GPU - DUDE!!! The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is probably the 2nd most important thing you need besides RAM for any kind of gaming. No point in getting a high-quality monitor without a GPU :3
Follow these guides, and you will be good-to-go.
Try this PSU.

If you hate cables go with a modular PSU.

Hurr durr, why don't I use the STOCK cooler for the CPU and look at the thread a little more and see that he already has a GTS 250.
Though the bit about the case is right.
You should get another 2GB stick of RAM and run it in dual channel.
Even though you SAID you weren't going to change your mobo or your ram, you NEED to use DDR2. There has never been a budgeted (500$ budget :O!) gaming computer with freaking DDR3 RAM. Just WAY too expensive for so LITTLE gain.

Okay, I'll go with DDR2.

A stock cooler is never safe. It costs only, what, 15$ for an average heatsink? Also, there was no thread when I was typing my post TYVM.
Why won't you change those particular items?

What
You said that RAM is the most important thing for gaming?

I like them. (With a BIOS download from the Gigabyte's website I will unlock the 2 extra cores)

Yes, it is safe.
A $15 heatsink isn't going to be that much better than stock.

I could have sworn the CPU was the most important thing in running a game. :frog:
I said GPU + RAM are the most important things. I've never seen anyone trying to run GMOD with 2GB of RAM while, oh I don't know, having something like Photoshop open in the backround. Of course you could go with 2GB of RAM, but there would be virtually no multi-tasking during games.
A stock cooler is never safe. It costs only, what, 15$ for an average heatsink? Also, there was no thread when I was typing my post TYVM.
A stock cooler IS SAFE. They are only meant to run a CPU at normal clocks at average temperatures (while you can strech the limits with them somewhat). And being as he is doing casual gaming, you shouldn't expect him to be playing extremely graphics intensive games which will heat up his CPU like shit.
I could have sworn the CPU was the most important thing in running a game. :frog:
If we're talking one game at a time, the GPU is the most important thing during the game. Next would probably be the CPU, then the RAM.
Gbps, I'm sad to say this, but you need more experience with this.

As do you.
The GPU and CPU are equally important, you aren't going to get crysis even running if you have a P2 and a GTX 275.

Use this for the case! Just put some get some wall fans and stuff for it.
DDR3 should not be used with this low of a budget This means you have to pick a new mobo. Ohh, Ninjad, this thread is fast
Get that Rosewill PSU if you want your computer to have built in fireworks. I decided to hop on the :bandwagon: for this one.

Good luck running anything. But I bet you enjoy a black screen with such high fps.
Will this RAM work with my MOBO? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145239
It really all depends on the OEM of that specific model. Just stick with the better ratings and you will most likely have a higher quality OEM behind it.
