• Why is it that the most common opposing forces match up is "red vs blue"?

Examples: Team fortress. Unreal tournament. Quake 3 team arena. Halo. Street fighter movie(think about the uniforms the soldiers wear) Easily tons more. Why is the match up of red and blue so common? This has been annoying me for a while now.
They're both fairly neutral colors. I would say that might be it. Not like Black V. White. Although red is usually evil while blue is good.
Because florescent orange vs green purple doesn't sound as good.
because Red and Blue are not only pigment different, but elemental as well... red usually represent fire, while blue represents water or ice. one vs. it's opposite. so why not put it in a game?
Both of them stand out against anything. Lol @ the ad:
Because they're at complete opposite ends of the color spectrum from each other I guess.

I would imagine it has something to do with the the unrelated fact that colorblind people can't tell the difference. Like some property is the same or something.
:ussr: vs :911: That thing called cold war originated all the red vs blue crap.
I agree with blackdeath. and kommunist. red is fire and blue is water, and the cold war started it
They look good on players. Team Fortress wouldnt look as cool with purple and yellow players.
Don't forget crips vs bloods.
You're right, we need Beige vs metallic Grey.
what else thats opposite of each other in color wheel thats good? none
Red represents evil, blue represents good, not necessarily in games, but that's how it is.
