Currently I am testing stability for 3.2GHz (400FSBx8) with a Q6600 on a GA-P35C-DS3R. I need to know something straight. I keep hearing all these things about having the FSB and the RAM to a 1:1 ratio. So with this in my head, I made the memory multiplier to 2.0 to match the RAM speed of 800MHz.From what I understand, overclocking requires you to add little by little FSB. Once that's done, the 1:1 ratio is no more. So.. I'm just puzzled here. The motherboard I have doesn't let you input your memory multiplier. It only has fixed values. BTW, CoreTemp says the it's at 73C. Is that too much?
1:1 ratio is retarded, leave it unlinked. Also what cooler are you using?
I'm using the Thermaltake Golden Orb II. But I'm starting to think it's rubbish. EDIT: Well, I just had a blue screen. Haven't changed anything though. Running Prime95 again.
73 for the core's is a bit hot but not at all bad. 73 For the CPU is to high.
I've been reading saying that 70C should be the maximum. But they don't specify if it's the core temp or the CPU's surface temp. Not too sure if there's a difference though.

(-38C) this is the difference bitween the CPU temp and Tmax.
When you raise the FSB the memory clock comes with it along with the core clock.

Right now, 3.2GHz has BsoD'd me on the Prime95 test. For some reason, on load it stays at 73C for a while. Then about 15 minutes later, I can hear a very faint noise (sensitive ears) and the temps sky rocket to about 77C before BsoD. I am still running 3.2GHz and at normal use (Gaming CSS with about 50 bots, L4D2 etc) it seems to be running fine.
When you raise the FSB the memory clock comes with it along with the core clock.
I don't think so. Maybe if you leave it on Auto. What is the safe limit to the Q6600's CORE temp? I'm planning to up the juice (it's only at 1.275v right now I think) and overclock it to 3.6GHz. Strangely, when I right click My Computer > Propertes it says that it's running at 3.6GHz already. But CPUID proves otherwise.
