How to enjoy: just play the fucking game.
How to enjoy: just play the fucking game.
That's the reason why people don't enjoy it though
Over the years I’ve fallen in love with what I call ambient games. Freeform, laid-back, open-ended experiences that you can lose yourself in for a few hours. Games, or parts of games, that are slow and measured, with no pressure to do anything in particular. Like a screensaver for your brain.
I get this, I really do, I still boot up Proteus every so often to just wander around and mess with things that make musical noises for no reason, but NMS is $60 so I can't justify it to myself to spend that much on an ambient game.
From what I've seen, the game fails at being an ambient game due to the constant, tedious recourse-management that you have to keep going to play.
I played the game for about 20 hours hoping it would get better [sp]it doesn't[/sp]
I played the game for about 20 hours hoping it would get better [sp]it doesn't[/sp]
Steam is now full of user reviews where people played for 50-80 hours hoping the game will get better eventually and they finally gave up.

But after about 20 hours of gameplay, I was done. At approximately $3/hr worth of mindless entertainment, I don't think there is much they could do to turn this mess around.
I really enjoyed no mans sky because what I did was play Don't Starve instead
I have no sympathy for people who are disappointed with NMS because they should have known better.
"N-no guys its a good game....really! Y-youre just playing it WRONG"
I have no sympathy for people who are disappointed with NMS because they should have known better.
Bonus points if they bought the collectors edition
It might be that, for most people, there isn't a defined goal in the game, and for others, its just a game to fuck around, which might be a bit too expensive.
I feel like hello games/Sony are paying pcgamer to pump out this shit
not bashing nms but if you have to read an article on how to have fun in a game the game has already failed you you should be able to just dive in and have fun off the bat. that's it.
I feel like hello games/Sony are paying pcgamer to pump out this shit
Check out this article. NMS is HUGE. They are just trying to use its popularity and get some clicks.
not bashing nms but if you have to read an article on how to have fun in a game the game has already failed you you should be able to just dive in and have fun off the bat. that's it.
Some games have enough depth and complexity that such an article would be justified and make sense. This game isn't one of them.
"N-no guys its a good game....really! Y-youre just playing it WRONG"
Ah the Ganerumo defense, it works for everything.
paying
Because they are. You'll note the ads they're running concurrently and how often they appear. The fact this article even exists and is tonally crafted in "third person" is all that really need be said. Most of the people opining on Total War for pay, not for free, not on steam, put less than an hour into the game before declaring it ____, and by any stretch of credulity for that type of game, that isn't even enough time to from an opinion about a feature, much less how the game's meta or mechanics work. And they were paid to do so. This is why streaming is the definitive method of game appraisal, and why you'll see more and more absurdity as sites do pretty much anything they can to keep and attract people to look at their ads. By contrast, find a game TB hated and you'll still see that he put in a minimum of around four hours before even committing anything to video, even if he's virtually certain he hates the game to begin with.
