So, the computer is Ram = 2038 MB System type = 32-bit Operating system (Vista Home Premium) Processor = Intel(r) Pentium(r) D CPU 3.00GHz 2.99GHz Intel( R) G965 Express Chipset Family Graphics memory = 358 MB Video Memory = 64 MB Dedicated Video Memory = 0 MB (looks very on board to me) [Price range may be added later] So, experts and expertesses. Could you please advise me of some good graphics cards which would work well within this setup please?
do your motherboard have PCI-E slot ?
Possibly, going by the chipset i have to use the assumption it is one of these motherboards. http://www.techpowerup.com/16465/Intel_G965_Based_Motherboard_from_Gigabyte.html http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/news/1416
Pop open your case and take a picture of the motherboard. What's your power supply?
Its not my computer, its for a friend, but they are a technotard (in there words) so all the information i have i've given to you =/ So i cant tell or show you either sorry.
40$, 4650. 70$, 4670. 95$, 4850. 130$, 4870 150$, 4870 (1GB, Vapor-X Cooling (additional overclocking capability)) 190$, 4890 With a Pci-e 16x slot, you can't go much higher. You need a pci-e 2.0 x16.
..more than likely this computer has some low wattage, probably around 300W, generic power supply and therefore can't accomodate anything worth buying.
4670.
Okay, thanks. any decent ones without HD. Is is that just the only way to go nowadays? (i am more of a laptop person so yeah lol)

That number isn't power of two, i bet you meant 2048? :smug:
I dunno lol, its what my friend posted me over msn =]
150$, 4870 (1GB, Vapor-X Cooling (additional overclocking capability))
Vapor-X Cooling =/= IceQ 4+ Cooling
It works either way though :v:
With a Pci-e 16x slot, you can't go much higher. You need a pci-e 2.0 x16.
PCI-E x16 and PCI-E 2.0 x16 are basically the same, for the time being.
4670.
That needs 400W really.
That needs 400W really.
No. [editline]05:08PM[/editline] I think john has a better chart.
So what's your point? 179 at idle, but under load it will be over 200W. That's just the 4670. You have to allow for the rest of the system as well. ATi know their cards better than you do. http://ati.amd.com/products/Radeonhd4600/requirements.html
They overestimate the power consumption so people who have a shitload of optical and hard drives don't bitch when their cards aren't getting enough power.
You don't even know what the guy's PSU is. If it's some junk 300W one then things could easily turn ugly.
What we need to know: AGP or PCI-e? PSU wattage? Price Range?
