Hi. To start things out I bought a Evga p67 FTW MOBO. I have yet to install (or even open the package) due to waiting to get my gpu to finish my build. Seems people are having some issues with these newly released boards...
This is my first PC build so would like it to be as simple as possible.
My question is - Should I try and go with the FTW, or sell it or return it and get a Asus P67 or Z68 board?
Going with Intel 2500K or 2600K, GTX 580, 8gb ram, 850 psu.
Thanks!
2500k if you're gaming, 2600k if you can utilize hyperthreading.
8GB ram if you can/think you can utilize it. (Otherwise get 4GB)
P67 if you don't want a SSD, Z68 if you want a SSD.
1000w preferred for GTX 580, or you can get a GTX 570 (580 really isn't worth the price jump)

if the p67 ftw motherboard is B3, keep it. if it isn't..return that shit.

I own 2500k, p67ftw, 8gb ram, 850psu. Getting a GTX 580 in two days... So deciding on what to do about the MOBO.
What is B3?
Thanks.
Oh. B3 is the revision Intel released (first p67/h67 chipsets came with a SATA problem, would degrade performance over time). B3 fixes that.
This is the board I bought http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=160-SB-E679-KR&family=Motherboard%20Family&series=Intel%20P67%20Series%20Family&sw=5
People are having Bios issues or something..They have updated once but having other issues... To me it sounds like gibberish... Set Vcore to auto, change this and that etc etc....
Get a Asus P8Z68-V Pro or a Asus P8P67 Pro. AFAIK that is a enthuiast board with that much PCIe slots.
What about this board? Asus Sabertooth p67. The thermal armor looks pretty cool.

the thermal armour is useless, does nothing but raise temps and get in the way
Dont think all that gay gimmicks like thermal armor are useful in any way, they are just to lure stupid people into buying them.
