Mechanical Keyboard General v1: CLAK CLAK CLAKKY CLAK CLAK CLAK

Forgive me if there's already a thread for this, but I feel mechanical keyboards don't get enough love. It's a matter very personal to me, and it's a matter I often slit my wrists over whilst listening to Linkin Park and browsing the Hot Topic homepage for wet-look skinny jeans and Death Note keychains and such.
Anyway, this is a thread in which we discuss mechanical keyboards. If you can hear yourself think over the sound of your mechanical keyboard.
Without meaning to brag, I personally own a Model M, a Razer Black Widow and a Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless (the last one was given to me for free).
What the fucking shit is this faggotry? What the fuck is the fucking difference between a god-damn mechanical and a mother fucking rubber-whatever keyboard?
The keys are higher, and have more tactile feedback. If you've ever lifted up the keys on a rubber-dome keyboard (if you've ever done that, you probably know the difference anyway) you've noticed that there is a... well, a rubber dome, oddly enough. Mechanical keyboards have none of that shit. Instead, what you get is a switch. Because it's a switch and not a rubber dome, pressing a mechanical key makes a loud CLAK sound. When you first use one, it's rather difficult because the keys are higher up and bottoming out is difficult, but you'll get used to it.
So yeah. That's basically it.
Mechanical keyboard discussion? Commence.
I hate loud keyboards.

WTF STOP DISAGREEING WITH ME
Nah, but it's actually a rather nice sound. It's not like that "guy-writing-his-novel-in-starbucks" chiclet-keyboard sound.

I share a room with someone that goes to bed at 10pm, while I stay up on the PC till 2/3AM. I really need a silent keyboard. :(

So get one then... mechanicals can't be used in every situation. The other problem with them is that they can get rather costly, with new models costing around £100. A cheap mechanical limits you to two options; the old as fuck Model M for £20 on eBay, or the rather nice Black Widow for around £70.
How does the steelseries 6g v2 fare as far as mechanical keyboards go?

Haven't used one, but it looks good. I might buy one, not sure.
I found an IBM Model M2 keyboard the other day for $2, but the controller was dead. Tried to fix it, but there's only so much you can do with surface mount components.

I have one and it is pretty decent, I have no major complaints.
The blackwidow is just a small price step away from the 6g but I hate razer with furious passion, is it worth it?

I love the Black Widow, and I too dislike Razer's products. I was surprised when I got mine, it's actually a quality mechanical.
I bought a Blackwidow today - absolutely love it!

If I get a blackwidow, is it possible to somehow remove or deface the razer logo?
The light up one at the botom? No, it's etched and its under a clear layer of plastic.
The logo's light can be turned off, which is how I keep mine.
Unicomp Spacesaver here.
Rubber Domefag here... I do wish I had a mechanical though. Oh well, this one's got more than enough of a clackity noise for me.

I dunno why you'd care or why you'd bother because of it's look everyone will know what it is. You can remove the etched plastic that's over the led on the bottom.
By remove I mean crowbar.
I like loud keyboards. It makes me proud for pressing buttons and hearing it pressed.
This bad boy has the best keyboard of all time:

Wonderful tactile feedback on this; a really satisfying CLACK CLACK CLACK sound.
I almost got a Das Model S ultimate. But the shop doesn't accept card and I ran out of cash.
So I went to another shop and got an iOne Scorpious M10 with a Black switch.
My rubber dome keyboard already makes clackity sounds, I'd hate to get a mechanical keyboard.

It can? Holy fuck mine's off how do I turn it back on

Oh thank you
I recently bought, and spilled Coke on my BlackWidow Ultimate. I thought my Left Arrow key had died. As it turns out, in the midst of clearing the Coke off the keys and inbetween, I set up a macro on the key to do nothing. Boy was I upset for nothing.
