Can't wait until thief 4, and yes I am saying it as thief 4 because th4ef is a really stupid name.

They released the first one today apparently on steam.
Do any of these games still play well today without relying on nostalgia goggles? I never played any of them before.

I played them for the first time ever a year or two ago. Definitely worth $5 dollars.
Hint: The best in the series is Thief 2. Thief 1 was good but the dev was mostly experimenting with it and put in stupid non-stealth combat levels that played like shit, and Thief 3 was also good but felt too linear and tedious. Thief 2 had brilliant level design that genuinely made you feel like you were going on a heist. Levels like the bank robbery and the infamous "Life of the Party" level are sprawling and complicated with unforgettable moments. If you've never played the games, just clear yourself off for the night so you can beat the missions, they will easily take you more than 2 hours to complete.

For the record, Thief, along with the MGS franchise, is responsible for making the stealth genre a thing.
In fact, I'm going to argue that if it wasn't for this game, then Deus Ex, Sly Cooper, Splinter Cell, Hitman, and Assassin's Creed among many, many others wouldn't be things.
getting all 3 because i need more games to play
and because stealing them is really hard
I cant get deadly shadows to work on windows 7 64bit at all, even in compatible mode, patches, and admin.
