So for Christmas, I was thinking of ordering a new HDD, and I just want some advice on which one to get.
I'm located in the United States, and my budget is I guess, as low as possible, and no more than $80.
My only requirement is that I want it to be at least 1TB, as I'm running out of space on my 750GB drive. This drive will function as my backup drive, so reliability is a key.
So far, I've been looking at this:

and this:

Are these any good? Is there something better for the price?
Thanks in advance.
Samsung Spinpoint F3

The F3 is definitely a possibility, but again, as I'm using this drive as a backup drive, I guess I'm more concerned about just pure storage space, and reliability (which I know F3's are)

I don't trust any piece of computer hardware that has the word 'green' in the name.
Ok, so I guess the WD Green is out of the picture.
What about the F2? Any significant difference between the F2 and the F3 besides just transfer speed?

I see.
Now I might sound dumb, but what's wrong with it?

Nothing I know of, I just don't trust anything marketed as 'green'
Both those drives look fine
The green drives are just slower, usually 5400 RPM.
Alright, thanks for the help so far - so right now it's a choice between the F2 and the F3.
It's getting late now, so I'll check back on this tomorrow morning, and make a decision then.
Merry Christmas everyone!
WD greens are fine.
Copy pasta below.

With SATA and PATA interfaces, and cache sizes ranging from 2 MB to 16 MB, these drives offer a full range of performance features.
WD Caviar Green™
These drives make it possible for energyconscious customers to build systems with
higher capacitiesand the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability, and energy conservation.
WD Caviar Black™
These high-performance SATA drives combine 7200 RPM spin speed, up to 64 MB cache, SATA 3 Gb/s interface, and an integrated dual processor for lightning-fast performance in demanding desktop, workstation, and multi-drive systems.[/quote]
I will just recommend these.

or the F3.

Up to you if you want 500Gb more for the same price just sacrificing performance.
The Green drives are slower which isn't a problem, the problem is that some of them spin down when they're not in use, which degrades the motor and shortens the lifespan of the hard drive.
Many of them also have shitty warranties, which is why the performance drives are often a better option for these situations.
Ok then, I think I'm just going to go for a faster drive and grab an F3.
Thanks everyone!
