Currently got i5 2500k, 10gb RAM, some crappy gigabyte board that doesn't even have PCI-E 3.0 & USB3, 120gb sandisk extreme, 1tb Samsung (failing), 660ti 2gb msi. Got it almost 3 years ago now (besides the 660ti). Is this a worthy upgrade?
Grabbing a pro is rather pointless for most home use. A regular 840 EVO will do more than fine.
I was thinking, I'll probably need a CPU cooler. I previously had a Hyper Evo 212, should I go for the same again for £25 or get a Corsair H series?
Why go for 4x4GB sticks when you can just get 2x8GB sticks. 212 EVO should probably be fine, unless you want to intensively overclock.
Replace that WD Green with two ST1000DM003s in RAID0 for better performance. It should be about the same price.
Is it really worth upgrading a i5 2500k to a 4690k?
Is it really worth upgrading a i5 2500k to a 4690k?
I wanted a Z97 board because I'm on Z68 and it's a super low end board (IE, no USB 3.0, no PCI-E 3.0). The CPU ain't the huge upgrade in this one, it's mainly the GPU, RAM, Hard Drives and mobo). To make it clear, I've already ordered all my parts now, I didn't order the WD Green, I chose the Seagate ST2000DM001 in the end and a Samsung Evo 840 240GB Also chose this RAM too http://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-(2x8gb)-corsair-ddr3-vengeance-pro-series-red-pc3-19200-(2400)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-11-13-13-
