My current graphics card is a 512mb XFX GeForce 9500 GT, I bought it a while ago as a placeholder for my original broken graphics card, and I've been struggling to run games past early '10. I have a budget of £60 and I would like to be able to run as many games as possible (including Skyrim!) on the best settings possible.
I'm running a dual-monitor setup, my main monitor is 1360x768 @60hz and my second is 1280x1024 @60hz, my motherboard supports PCI-E. I can provide more information if necessary.
Also found a cheap 2gb VTX3D HD 5450 for £35, the memory size caught my eye but I'm not sure if it's too good to be true.
The 5450 is pretty much useless for gaming, and VRAM isn't a valid measure of how good a graphics card is. Benchmarks, however, are.
I'd suggest a 6750 or a 6770. They're a tiny bit above your budget but it'll be worth it in the long run:
6750: Link
6770: Link.
If you really cannot go for these cards though - a 6670 will probably serve you pretty well, but maybe not on the maximum settings available, but more than likely fluently on medium-high settings - but you can't have your cake and eat it.
6670: Link.
Also, do you know what power supply you have - it's important.

If you REALLY must, you can go for the 6570: Link. It'd be far better to get one of the cards listed above though
Radeon 5450 vs Radeon 6570.
Also, I know the price seems like a sweeter deal with the 5450, but if you buy that, you'll need an update pretty damn quickly, making it a more expensive purchase that will require another expensive update in the near future.
Edit
The 5450 is actually slower than your current graphics card: Radeon 5450 vs Geforce 9500 GT
My power supply is 500w and I could stretch to £80 if necessary. What would you recommend between the 6750 and the 6770?
Also, both my monitors are using VGA cables, one cable is fitted with a digital adaptor and can also use a HDMI cable if necessary (it's a 32" plasma TV)
But what 500w is it exactly? 500w doesn't tell us a whole lot, but honestly even if it is a diablotek or something equally as bad you could probably get away with a 6770 or so.
the PSU is an EZ-Cool 500w, I can't find anything else that would be considered a label besides "Socket 775". Should I be ok with that?
I have the ATi Radeon 5450 which i find useful enough. I play TF2 on it and have no trouble with it.

I'm looking for something that'll run Skyrim pretty well though :v: from what I've seen from the benchmarks on the other cars I'm probably better off with them.
Yeah, go get that tasty 6770 - and play Skyrim as it was intended to be played!

I agree! That is a beast.
6770 a beast, we living on the same planet?
It's by no means bad but I wouldn't call it a beast, I'd call a MARS II a beast.
It has good performance for its price, which could possibly be what he meant. But then, most cards are beastly at the resolutions he's playing at.
Thanks for the help guys, gonna go order the 6770 on saturday. :zoid:
