• nVidia Geforce 9500GT 1GB. Worth it?

Well, I was looking through ebay for graphics cards, and saw this for sale for £45, I know nothing about computers and I'm wondering if it's a good graphics card for the money, and will it run games well? (I'm also thinking about buying a Patriot 4GB DDR3 memory, which is two 2GB sticks - this costs £25 initially, but I will probably be out bid. Is this worth it and will it help in combination with the graphics card?)
No.
If you want a cheap and good graphics card, buy either the ATi HD 4670 or 4770. Both of them have 1gb ram. The 4670's got DDr3 ram, and the 4770's got DDr5 ram. The 4770 does cost abit more, though.
4670 is better for the price.
Okay, so I'm guessing it's an old card? (I seriously know nothing about this type of stuff) Would any of you be able to recommend me a relatively cheap, good, graphics card? Edit: I got beaten to the post, I'll check them in a second.
4670 is better for the price.
And also completely rapes the 9500. [editline]06:41PM[/editline]
Okay, so I'm guessing it's an old card? don't use ebay http://www.ebuyer.co.uk http://www.overclockers.co.uk
don't use ebay ebuyer.co.uk overclockers.co.uk
its probably second hand LOL
So this is the graphics card I should be looking at: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Asus-1GB-ATi-Radeon-HD-4670-HD4670-PCI-E-Graphics-Card_W0QQitemZ200408534970QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW?hash=item2ea9478fba It costs about 60 pounds, will this make any difference to my gaming if I don't buy any memory with it?)

But if you've got anything below an 8800GT, then yes, it will make a big difference. Also, as CombineGuru have said, don't use Ebay. Chances are you'll get a faulty or near-faulty card. And when/if it fails, you'll have no warranty.
euch not ebay http://www.ebuyer.com/product/175342

And I won't use eBay then, I'll buy this card then I guess.
euch not ebay http://www.ebuyer.com/product/175342
That's a 4650, not a 4670. The difference in performance is quite crucial. (The 4650's worse.)
oops wasn't looking [editline]05:48PM[/editline] http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169828 [editline]05:49PM[/editline] £10 more; http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167966
So this card will be able to run high end games with reasonable ease?
So this card will be able to run high end games with reasonable ease?
Yes. Or well, that depends on the rest of your hardware. If you've got a shitty CPU, the card'll get bottlenecked= You lose precious FPS. (I've got the same card with a Pentium 4, and it runs quite well [Crysis Warhead @ high with around 30 FPS]. But it'd perform much better on a faster CPU.)
I have a 9500 GT 512mb, with a 2.3gz amd phenom 9650 quad core and 4gb of ddr2 ram. It will run any game made before 2008 on highest. But I think you should look for a better one. Great for gmod @:D
I'm not really looking for something that can run the highest settings on everything, just something that can play most games on mid settings without crashing or running at like 4 fps, like my current one does.
I'm not really looking for something that can run the highest settings on everything, just something that can play most games on mid settings without crashing or running at like 4 fps, like my current one does.
Well, if you read my edited post you can see that it runs Crysis Warhead quite well on high. Seems like a perfect card for you. Doesn't require much power from the PSU at all, is powerful, and is also generally cheap. And trust me, if you've got an atleast decent CPU, you'll be able to max out whatever you like.
I'll get my spec's later on when I manage to get on that computer, but I will probably buy this card as it's quite cheap and seems to suit my needs perfectly.
I doubt that, I've got a 9800GT and a C2Q Q6600, I only get about 35 FPS on high.
Warhead, or regular?
I doubt that, I've got a 9800GT and a C2Q Q6600, I only get about 35 FPS on high.
Either you're talking about absolute max settings, or you're talking about Crysis "Classic" .
Either you're talking about absolute max settings, or you're talking about Crysis "Classic" .
He isn't; 35 is about right for that spec. The guy who said his'll do around 30 FPS is being very generous. Hell, I only get 35-40 with my Q6600 ~ 3.4GHZ, 4GB RAM, and hd 4870 512mb (Warhead, high).

and is right. I'm using 1680 x 1050 myself.
