The best gaming headset is a good quality pair of headphones and a separate mic.

Set for life.
And nobody is surprised that this article is full of SteelSeries and generic Asus ones etc.
Articles like this make me hate PCGamesN even more...
Like, test the Sennheiser Game One, but don't test the 363D. (The higher quality between the two)
But, definitely do fill the whole list with your generic slough of gamer brand shit...

How the fuck do two SteelSeries and a fucking Turtle Beach make it on this?
These articles just keep getting worse...
Of course the Cloud IIs were first on the list. Worked in Retail for a while and one day we got a shipment of 120 Cloud IIs. We sold ~10 over the next 3 weeks.

Is that good or bad? I don't know how big your store is.

Canada Computers. Retail chain mostly along the eastern edge of Ontario and spreading into Montreal currently.
Our stores can be as large as a Best Buy.
Kinda bad considering they were also on sale for a month.

Yet you all seem to these good and informative articles are the front page:

Thanks for comparing it to a store I've never seen :v:
But yeah ok.
If they sold that many in our local electronics store during 3 weeks, it would probably be pretty good.

It's a big store :vs:
I quite like my Logitech G35:
[t]http://s3.pji.nu/product/standard/800/403908.jpg[/t]
Sturdy, neat buttons, nice sound, 7.1, great mic.
I'd rather have a modmic to slap onto my M50x, but y'know. Shipping from the US and all that.
What the actual fuck? The Kingston HyperX Cloud II? Those are like the worst fucking gaming headsets you can buy these days. The microphone sounds like you're talking into a shitty $1 microphone.

But they're not the worst fucking gaming headsets when you're paid to write about them!
I've invested into a Blue Yeti microphone a Phillips SHP9500 headphones and I don't regret it. Given, the price is a bit steep (about 230 bucks to get these two things) but once you have those you're set for a really long while.

How good is the Blue Yeti with a headphone for stuff like casual calls? Do you have to put it right in front of your mouth so people are able to hear you or something?

Yeah my Sennheiser 598HD + Modmic combo is so good, never going back to some shitty cheap headset

I have a Snowball and it's great for casual calls. Yeti is better than snowball so...

Sweet. A Snowball is right in my price range as well, and getting one means I can replace my G35 and just use my M50x instead. Colour me interested.
There are two requirements for the best/great quality headset
Fucking ALL god damn METAL so it doesn't fucking BREAK like every fucking headset I've ever fucking owned
Good sound quality
In that order. If you find a cheaply constructed pair but the quality is awesome, take you a metal coat hanger, bend it so it'll lay ear to ear on the outside, and Duct tape it ear to ear in place
Like I have
earbuds + desktop mic, never go back

I wish. It's so sensitive I've carried conversations from three rooms away with only mildly raising my voice.

What the fuck is this shit?

I'm under the impression PCGamesN hates Logitech.
Out of all their "Best PC Gaming Peripherals" articles, Logitech hardware has consistently been a No-Show.
[editline]23rd October 2015[/editline]
Though I suppose it might be unfair, since the lists would consist of nothing but Logitech's god-tier hardware.
My Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros have lasted for over 4 years now. Awesome sound, awesome comfort.

Actually the HyperX Cloud is widely considered to be one of the only headsets worth buying... Sure you're talking about the set you think you are?
The sennheiser hd280 pro are the best headphones I've purchased to date. With a blue yeti and those it really is a good combo. Best part is the hd280' are cheap study and comfortable.
I currently have the HyperX Cloud. What would you all recommend I get if the Cloud II isn't that great?

I'd rather the Senn HD 518's to the 280's tbh.

Really? Why if you don't mind me asking?
