Hey guys, this past Friday I got my two cards in the mail and was really excited. Due to some unknown issues my original louder/less mumble unboxing was corrupted. This the first "unboxing" video I've done so it sounds alittle rough. I did plenty of jumpcuts, probably too much to accelerate the video and make it not last as long as the original recording.
In the video I just look over the box, included accessories, and the card itself. I then show the bootup sequence of the card. How it runs in reverse for 30seconds to clean the heatsink, then I do some quick noise comparisons.
If you only want to see the card, I included an annotation to skip to the part where I take out the card, I know some people don't care about

you have a very nice voice, good content, but you mentioned CUDA in reference to an AMD card, AMD cards don't support CUDA
I know, my point was the Nvidia specific features as more useful to me. AMD has it's own share of features like MLAA, Full Screen Supersampling, Single-Card Eyefinity, etc. But CUDA and nvidia's overall nicer software support is what really sold me over a 6970. Most the work I do involves just explosive amounts of tinkering with video and engines to push visuals further than people can normally even notice. So having extra control inside of the drivers and overall just more support for the GPU is something I can afford.
This was done on the main mic on the Canon HV20, but I use my AT2020 for most of my voice stuff as shown at the end. I mumble, but I think I have a decent voice.
Thanks.
What's the minimum number of susbcribers do you need to apply for partnership?
Also, good video.
There is no minimum. What they look for is someone who has a "decent following", "decent views", and " unique content." All of those have no real numbers of values and it's up to youtube. But I'm a partner through machinima so that doesn't affect me.
I'll do benchmarks of both of these in SLI when I get the rest of my system ordered. Right now my 580 is only at like 40% GPU usage in Crysis 1080p, enthusiest, 8xAA
These look amazing.
I just lately upgraded to the GTX 570, as these were quite out of my price range.
Glad that someone was able to afford these beasts.
I choosed between this one and the Asus DirectCU II 580, took Asus after some heavy thinking.
I liked your video, nice work.
Nice how many mhash/sec does that baby get
Nice how many mhash/sec does that baby get
150-190 probably
Nowhere near what a 6970 could get

Nvidia hardware doesn't get nearly the kind of hashes of AMD's 5 or 6 series. But I have no intention of Bitmining on these.
I know, I was trying to be hip and cool by referencing to another thread.
I'm sorry, have a heart.
No backplate? :v:
Yea, Kind of odd for a card like this to not have one, but all the memory is on the underside and it has a bolted unisink under the fins to give it support.
Is this card part of a new build, or is it just an upgrade?
Half of a new build, I'll be buying the rest of the parts next week, then I can run my second one in SLI.
heh, for some reason i find the sound of your voice extremely funny
When you were picking up things out of the box, then the camera was just cutting them out of view. Made me laugh a bit, not sure why :v:
Anyway, really good video. I actually enjoyed watching it :ohdear:
Yea, unboxings are tricky. I watch a lot of unboxings to see mostly how the item looks in person. Good unboxing videos give extra information besides whats on the box. So I tried to give information other than what you'd see from newegg description. I'm learning and hope to do useful hardware videos.
I appreciate the comments. I saw that on youtube it says, "As seen on: Facepunch." Hah
Ah fuck I wish I got this instead of the Asus PowerCUII 580 GTX I bought on Friday.
it started with an untoweling i want a refund
What's wrong with the Asus?

I'm sorry. Wanted to cover it some how.

Perhaps it's asthetics. This card is still dual slot, the asus is triple slot. This has 3gb of memory, asus still only produces 1.5gb models.

To be fair, These are 599 each, so you probably paid a good bit less.
wow dat microphone at the end, what exactly do you do as a career and such
and since you probably know about microphones, I have a decent condenser mic but it seems my sound card or something isn't powerful enough to run it? what do i do

Youtube makes up about 10% of my income right now and I work at Siemens as a desktop support intern.

Condenser mics need phantom power to run. USB mics get their own power from the hub, if you're simply plugging it into your soundcard then it's not getting the power it needs probably.

so tel me what I need!
so tel me what I need!
A audio mixer with 48v phantom power.
And a 2x RCA (Stereo) to 3.5mm auxiliary

Though I thinks it looks better without a backplate if the PCB is black.
