• And so my graphics card's fan... Fell out!

As the title suggests, there I was plodding along minding my own business when **clunk**, my graphics card's fan just felt out without warning. The suspect in question is an AMD Radeon HD 6800 and I have had no problems with the old girl until now (albeit it has always been rather loud), well maintained and has had no interference or movement. No sure if any of you have heard of this sort of thing happening before, but I think this calls for an upgrade. I would however rather not go full out, if possible I would like to simply buy a new graphics card, but I confess I am no hardware expert (don't get me wrong, I'm certainly no luddite, I just haven't kept up with the latest tech). Anyone have any suggestions for what card I should get? My specs are: - ASUS - M4A80GTD PRO/USB3 - AMD Phenom II X4955 3.4 GHz - 8 GB of RAM

Stuck it back in then.
Done that of course, it's just I'm more than a little conscious it's going to do it again no doubt.
What's the point in buying a new card just because your fan fell out? Stick a new one on and you'll be fine, jeez. I mean, what's the worst that can happen? I have mine basically screwed onto the heat spreader and have had no problems at all. Not to mention the capacitors have blown themselves up and I had to solder on new ones.
It's the fan on the actual graphics card itself, like I said I have put it back in now but truth be told I am due an update as it is.
I am talking about the actual fan though. :v: But hey, It's your call. Just showing that it's not that serious.
Is that a third-party fan pretty much stuck onto the graphics card? That isn't actually a bad idea which in all honesty, I hadn't thought of doing (not entirely sure I will find one to fit in the case mind).
Yes, that is just some random fan basically stuck onto the card with screws (they go in between the spreader slots). Not saying you should do this, but if the fan truly fails and the card is still capable enough, why waste the money?
Glue it back on of course!

Or at least until I can get some proper glue for it (from what I can tell I think the motor has given up with the latest break).
