• Will this system work as a PVR?

hey Im thinking of the idea of making a PVR out of a old pc, Specs fyi atm are: 600mhz cpu, 256mb memory, a harddrive, and a 8mb dedicated video card, and a dedicated decent tv input card with composite jacks and s-video. and fyi it has internet connection.

Your better off getting an old P4 system instead, heck a netbook is more powerful.
No, it won't.
You could encode NTSC/PAL video, but that's about it. 720 or 1080i/p are out of the question.
I was thinking 4:3 on a regular tv, not a flatscreen.

640x480 it would still choke a bit but yeah it might be able to do it good luck hunting down the drivers
