I live in the England and I am planning to buy a laptop soon. All today I have looked through the web trying to find good laptops. I have come across one which seems it will be good for gaming (TF2/Portal & ~ Eve Online) and school work. But I need your opinion on the specifications and to warn me if I would be wasting my money.

OS: Windows 7 64bit (matches cpu)
WLAN card: Intergrated N wireless (upgrade)
Screen size / resolution: 15.6" 1920 x 1080 HD Glare (same size as current laptop but higher resolution)
(Lurkers agree: get it / disagree: don't get it)
Seems to me as a good value.

That's what I think. It's an i7 quad core and a good graphics card which has good benchmarks. I don't mind the HDD because I have a 1Tb external.

It does seem a good deal. But then if you're only going to be using it to play Source Games & Eve, aswell as general basic tasks - you may be better going for something lower-end.
It's more than adequate for the games you've specified, but a desktop would be more powerful and less expensive. Also, wouldn't 1920x1080 on a 15" screen fucking hurt your eyes?

I may need to take it to school. I don't have a basement to live and my room is 2m x 4m ish with a bed and drawers.

I may be buying better games which I don't have because of my current laptop can't run them smoothly.

@I'm not sure. I've never had a higher resolution. Any one else know what its like?
At my work they have a few 15" laptops with 1920x1080 resolutions, they look quite nice, and if it doesn't just switch down to another resolution.

Does it make things smaller? Or just more detailed?
Smaller. 1650X1050 is the highest I would go.

But it will look bad if you don't use the native resolution for text and stuff
