• Am I wasting money?

I live in the England and I am planning to buy a laptop soon. All today I have looked through the web trying to find good laptops. I have come across one which seems it will be good for gaming (TF2/Portal & ~ Eve Online) and school work. But I need your opinion on the specifications and to warn me if I would be wasting my money. The Laptop: Enigma II (Url) Base price (not customized): £760 Base specifications: see Url Custom price: £881 Custom specifications: CPU: Intel Core i7 i7-740QM quad core (upgrade) Graphics: Radeon HD 5650 Direct X 11 (unchanged) RAM: 4GB Memory (upgrade) HDD: 250GB (unchanged) OS: Windows 7 64bit (matches cpu) WLAN card: Intergrated N wireless (upgrade) Screen size / resolution: 15.6" 1920 x 1080 HD Glare (same size as current laptop but higher resolution) (Lurkers agree: get it / disagree: don't get it)
Seems to me as a good value.
Seems to me as a good value.
That's what I think. It's an i7 quad core and a good graphics card which has good benchmarks. I don't mind the HDD because I have a 1Tb external.
Go for it. Sounds a great deal.
Seems good, however why not a desktop instead?
It does seem a good deal. But then if you're only going to be using it to play Source Games & Eve, aswell as general basic tasks - you may be better going for something lower-end.
It's more than adequate for the games you've specified, but a desktop would be more powerful and less expensive. Also, wouldn't 1920x1080 on a 15" screen fucking hurt your eyes?
Go for it. Sounds a great deal.
Thanks I will.
Seems good, however why not a desktop instead?
I may need to take it to school. I don't have a basement to live and my room is 2m x 4m ish with a bed and drawers.
It does seem a good deal. At my work they have a few 15" laptops with 1920x1080 resolutions, they look quite nice, and if it doesn't just switch down to another resolution.

Smaller. 1650X1050 is the highest I would go.

But it will look bad if you don't use the native resolution for text and stuff
